King has been convicted of at least three sexual assaults that I'm aware of. The most serious was punching a 20 y/o woman in the face and breaking her nose when she rejected his advances in a nightclub. Following an 18 month custodial sentence he was back in the game.

Just for clarity, that's one of his assault/GBH charges and not his sexual assault which I still think are only grabbing of women and nothing more.

The assault is obviously a serious offence in itself. Is it worse than a 28 year old man taking advantage of a child for sex? I'm not sure.

Yes, ok, legally speaking the offences are treated as separate.
Though in layman's terms it still seems to me that punching a woman in the face because she's asked you to stop physically sexually harassing her, is a continuation of a sexual offence, rather than two separate incidents.

As for an earlier incident. He groped her, and then when she complained he slapped her and spat in her face.
I'm sure you'll be a pendant there and say the second part was a separate incident to the first so let's not waste time going round in circles.

As for Adam Johnson, all three non-grooming offences refer to one particular date: 30/01/2015. There is no allegation of a prolonged sexual relationship.

By prolonged sexual relationship I meant the grooming and sexual nature of their contact (non-physical perhaps), not him sleeping with her on a continued basis.

We'll agree to disagree there.

It looks like the prosecutor did not receive Durham Constabulary's memo from earlier in the day warning:
"Victims of sexual assault are guaranteed the legal right to lifetime anonymity and publishing any details, including on social media, which may lead to their identification, is contrary to the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992."


A few hours later:
"Prosecution Kate Blackwell QC said the victim’s Facebook profile picture was a photograph of her wearing her Sunderland shirt standing in the car park of the Sunderland football ground with Adam Johnson’s arm around her."
