One-Hit Wonders

by Steve_Upper_West » 19 Feb 2016 12:35

I guess it is fair to say that Yakubu's one and only goal for Reading in last year's FA cup gave him a place in Reading folklore, not least because of it's importance in an otherwise disappointing season. Anyone else have particular memories of Reading players whose ONLY goal for the club left a lasting impression. Two others spring to mind for me....

De la Cruz and 'that goal' in an eventful 3-1 win against Sheffield in 2007, a game which also saw Warnock and Downes squaring up!

Bertrand's goal in 2010 against Derby which finally beat Robbie Savage, who up until then had been performing heroics between the posts, a game we finally won 4-1

Nice thread. I enjoyed Tony Barras equalising goal at Luton in 1998/99 8) Not truly special though. Perhaps Robert Fleck's only RFC goal, also vs Luton on that same season when we opened the new ground with an untypically attractive win :?:

Sean Evers (indeed) opening the scoring away at Fulham.

I vaguely remember that game as I was kronenbourged to the eye balls. Think we lost it 4 - 1.

3-1. And wasn't it Brebner with our goal?

I stood next to a bloke on a packed Putney End who had snuck an entire pint in its glass from the local boozer and was supping happily away  Not sure whether it was Krony or not, but it could have been you :!:

Robert Fleck - you know you're losing it when he gets presented with the player of the season award for the other team.

John Halls did score in the league - tap in in a late season game.
