Yes, injuries have got in the way (and now age in a couple of cases) but Ox, Walcott, Per, Ramsey, Flamini, Arteta, Rosicky have all been around long enough to have carried them to a title or 2 if they'd been good enough.

Trouble is, Arsenal's youngsters don't look a patch on Man Utd's, Cheslsea's or Man City's.

Completely disagree on Ramsay. He quality. Probably needs a better manager who doesn't shove him out wide or make him play alongside such averageness as Coquelan and Flamini. He should have signed for united. They would have made him a better player.

They ALWAYS (exaggeration) lose against the big teams (always looking insipid in the process) so it's fair to suggest they haven't really got what it takes to be winners.

Of course it may be that Wenger has become the weak link and the aforementioned would all step up and perform better in the big games with a different leader.

Yes I have a soft spot for Arsenal but I actually think I would rather see Spurs or Leicester win the thing as well.

It would be such a brilliant story - and to be honest, only one-eyed Arsenal fans could fail to be impressed with what Spurs are doing. And as for Leicester - well, I am a sucker for a good fairytale. And it would be really good for football as a whole if they were to be champions.

So many people have said (on here as well as across all media) over the last 2 decades that it was impossible for anyone to break into the Top 4, and that FFP (what's that?) would make that even more so....

I agree with you RR that it would be great for our game especially if Leicester were to win it-less so Spurs because they have been thereabouts for years so making that small step upwards is nowhere near the enormous step it would be for Leicester who only a couple of seasons ago were in the Championship.

I never appreciated the animosity towards Spurs before this season-it seems as though fans of other clubs see Spurs' fans as always having ideas above their station and that they were more on a par with the likes of Everton,West Ham, Villa or Newcastle (less so the latter 2 of late) than with any of the top 4 or 5.

As for Arsenal, they are just a bit soft when it comes to it and for the past one and a half seasons have relied so much on one player and when he is injured or not on song then nobody else seems able to lift them.
A couple of weeks ago the betting was:-

Now it is:-

Arsenal-11/4

So for the umpteenth season it looks as though Arsenal have blown it again but there will surely be plenty of "twists and turns" (as the media say, far too often) and City look fair value at that price with each-way betting being 1/3rd top 2.

I think it's a bit harsh to throw all of those players you listed onto the scrapheap just because they've been there during the time when the team hasn't got over the line. Put a ballsy centre half and a midfielder with a bit of bite alongside the majority of those losing teams over the last 10 years and they'd probably have had enough to win. You can't blame a player like Ramsey, or even Walcott, for the rest of the teams weaknesses.

I do agree they don't have the toughness as a team though. They've consistently failed over the years and they do need to replace the likes of Viera, Adams and Henry with players who can turn a half decent challenge into a title win but Wenger seems unable, or unwilling, to attract those type of players to Arsenal these days.
