Believe the age of consent is 13 in the Netherlands but it might have a "both must be within x years of each other until 18" stipulation.

I think it's a bit off that Johnson is looking at similar prison time to Evans.

I've not been following this case closely, but whilst it seems like Johnson's slimy, I think raping a woman who has practically passed out on your friend's bed is much worse than a hand down a 15 year old's jeans.

Evans didn't do that though, not in the way you're implying (or I'm implying to your words at least). From the evidence presented in court it was deemed that she was too drunk to have given Evans consent. I don't think she at any point said she didn't give consent, largely because she was too pissed to remember, so in Evans eyes he wasn't raping some unconscious and unwilling woman.

It's a fine line, but quite a difference IMO.

Yeah, I think having sex with someone who is too drunk to consent (i.e. rape) is worse than feeling up someone who is too young to consent. Maybe it's partially society's fault for not teaching young men that you need to have consent before you go nailing someone, but I don't really think that excuses it. Definitely worse for Johnson that he knew he was breaking the law and still went for it.

Seriously, given that we're all part of Europe and subject to European law/human rights, how can there be such a massive difference in age of consent?

I'd have though not being subjected to child abuse was one of the more basic human rights.

I think it all depends on context and the individual circumstances.

In Evans' case she was deemed ok to give consent to his mate, but not Evans. It's a tricky one for me as that shows that deciding what is right and wrong is probably a tad difficult.

For me, a grown man manipulating a child, and his position, in the way Johnson has for his own sexual gratification is worse than what Evans did, but it's hardly a choice between right and wrong. Neither are acceptable though.
