MATCHWATCH : Middlesbrough (a) sponsored by a Paul Holsgrove winner

by Sutekh » 12 Apr 2016 17:35

Middlesbrough have won their last 4 games

Reading have won their last none but have managed to win their last two away games (at 23rd placed Charlton and already relegated Bolton)

Good news is that a boro win will aid the no promotion for Brighton brigade - and let's face it thats probably about as good as the news will get tonight

Middlesbrough will be missing Adamia and Williams so look forward to Adomah, Downing and Rhodes struggling for form instead

Reading have no new injury worries so only Tish and HRK will be missing

A Middlesbrough win will see them go top while a win for Reading will mathematically secure another season of Second division scrapping

Last season this fixture was won by that rarity of things, a Simon Cox strike

Finally the gentleman in black who will ruin the game (probably for both teams) is Scott Duncan who last was in charge of Reading around this time last year. Reading 1-1 Cardiff City.

Cox up front with Vydra tonight....Looks like a 442 diamond formation again. Oh well, surly not as bad as Saturday, hopefully.

Line-up is in: Looks like it's a 4-3-3

GK: Al-Habsi
RB: Gunter
LB: Obita
CB: Cooper
CB: McShane
CM: Norwood
CM: Williams
CM: Quinn
RF: Vydra
CF: Cox
LF: Piazon

Just one change from the Brum game. Vydra in, Kermorgant out.

Vydra for Kermorgant only change. Still nowhere enough pace and strength in the team imo.

Quinn and Norwood both have those limitations, so we shouldn't be playing both of them together in midfield. Also suspect Piazon (even less physical presence than the other two) will be a passenger, because we won't be able to get him into the game. Throw in Cox, who is also small and medium-slow, and it's tough to see how we expect to offer any threat of getting behind their defence. The idea that Obita and Gunter can do it, as well as defending, seems hard to believe.

Hope to be proved wrong. But would rather have seen at least one of McCleary or John, and Hector in midfield.

Much as I have been distinctly unimpressed with Kermorgant, I've been even more unimpressed by Piazon.

Cox and Vydra upfront with John in a free role to ponce about for me. Vydra and Cox can do the hard work pressing.

Don't think I can stand Dellor's whining tonight... might try listening to the Middlesbrough commentry.

Dellor's had a good night so far. Well done Dellor. They're not talking the usual b*ll*cks.

Give him a chance, the game doesn't start for another 10 minutes.

I won't be able to listen to it as I'm out of the area. Just listening to the pre-match build up online at the moment. I'll be relying on you for my in match updates.

Fook it, the option to switch to another team's commentary seems to have gone.

Look up local radio on BBC website. Find BBC Teeside or whatever they have up there.

It's blocked once the game kicks-off.

You can hear the prematch build up though from a Boro perspective if you want.

Dellor is being a prat predicting that Vydra will score a hat trick tonight. Who is he trying to please?

He does it every week so he can pretend he doesn't get on his back all the time.

Prematch build up schmildup

Come on the Royals...

I have stupidly backed us at 7.8 to 1 on the Betfair Exchange for £15. I also put a fiver on the draw just to hedge a little bit. Hopefully they won't wilt this evening. But, I agree with some comments that this particular line-up is a bit weak. Not enough hard running in there.

This looks like a dead cert defeat as we're playing that terrible formation again that worked so well on Saturday - does BMac want to get sacked?
