Ian Royal The key is not conceding again, we're always in it (just) at 1-0... more than that and we're buried and likely to get taken apart by this lot.
How times change, we took this lot apart earlier in the season ...

Ian Royal Good job on surviving to HT at just one down.
This statement just about sums up our season
The fact we're only one down kinda vindicates McDermott's team selection IMO...
Really....?
Boro are very good and extremely difficult to score against. We could easily have found ourselves 2/3 down at this point without being particularly surprised.
Keep it tight for 10 minutes after half time. Try to grow into the game and go for the throat from about 65 minutes.
We ought to try adopting this strategy from the first whistle
At worst we concede a few more goals, no biggie. At best we pick up a point or three, unlikely though that may be.

royal67Top Flight Stats suggest we're dominating. Is that right?
We've had 60% possession
More importantly zero shots on target.........

RoyalBlue Boro 9 shots of which 5 have been on target.
Royals 6 shots of which 0 have been on target!
Great! We still can't defend and we still can't shoot! With a coaching team like that, we are only heading in one direction next season.

But even if we did, I live in the now, not in the irrelevant ancient past.

So what does that say about the belief that some have in McDermott?!
His success really was prehistoric in those terms and therefore completely irrelevant.

That is equally irrelevant because they certainly aren't going to concede if our useless players and their coaches can't find a way of even getting a single shot on target.
I would suspect that most of their opponents in those 20 matches have at least managed to test the keeper a few times in their games.

Nonsense
Of course, what happened in our game against Boro earlier in the season is completely irrelevant but what McDermott managed to do years before still counts!
Well maybe we should also remember how he completely lost the plot when we were in the PL (wasting whatever money he was given in the transfer window on the likes of Akpan). And maybe his lack of success at Leeds wasn't completely down to the lunatic chairman either.
