Wimb As it is, right now we've got a man with 1 goal in 35 games, a youngster with about 20 goals, all in League One who's been left out on loan to be part of a team that's creating chances and in a promotion hunt. An unknown quantity from the Polish leagues who's not fully fit, Kermorgant who's also not fully up to speed or in a team that plays to his strengths or a bunch of Academy products with barely a senior game between them.

In those circumstances Brian is hoping that Vydra returns to the form from last season and with the options he has available, there's not a lot wrong with that.

Yeah Vydra's not been good enough, has missed some sitters and sadly been a waste of money but what can you do at this stage?

This goes to the heart of my main question regarding all of this.

Yes, Dellors approach is closer to amateur than professional when he gets a bee in his bonnet but, surely he's only displaying the same frustration as many fans in how a striker rarely capable of hitting a barn door with a banjo since the day of his hugely expensive arrival is still getting on the pitch and still costing us dearly.

Why is Brian giving Vydra every opportunity to rediscovery past glory having elected elsewhere to give preference to those who will be here next season over numerous loanees? Leaving him out of last nights 16 would not have been difficult and he'd done next to nothing to justify inclusion.

Does every cr@p performance lower the price Watford might accept :|

Unless the Thai's are preparing to dig deep again this summer, I'm struggling to see how our final tranche of parachute payments will fund signing the likes of Ola John who have regularly produced performances that might justify the risk of expensive investment.

Frankly, as things stand even 500k on Vydra would be a risk we can ill afford.

John Smith
Vision Not sure why Vydra would choose to stay anyway. Since he's joined he's seen two of the forwards he played with sold, the other one in decent form is injured and unlikely to sign next season himself. Granted they've been replaced by a Latvian nutjob and Rip Van Winkle but I'm not convinced that's enough to persuade him next season will be better for him.

Haha I don't think Matej Vydra is in any position to be making decisions about his future at Reading. He should be delighted it's even up for consideration!

In all seriousness though there won't be a shortage of Championship clubs after him if Watford make him available again.

I suspect that one of the reasons he was amenable to a Championship loan was that it's a European Championship year and his chances of getting on the plane/train to France meant he felt he needed to play games rather than sit on his arse waiting for Ighalo to get injured or turn shit.

"Ask about the game, Tim....".

He did, repeatedly, just not the questions McDermott wanted to answer. Sorry Brian, you don't get to choose the post match questions. That's what the programme notes are for.

Nowt wrong with Dellors interview

Tim did go a bit mental at the end of the game but if McShane nutting Williams can be excused as ''passion'' and ''two players wanting to win'' so can Dellors frustration.

Ian Royal The state he was in there was no way he should have been speaking to McDermott.

:| Wtf, Ian - seriously.....in terms of his line of questioning how would you say Dellor behaved unreasonably or unprofessionally in that interview? In fact McD is the only one who comes across as being 'in a state'.

And still this rumbles on. Seems to me that – just as Dellor clearly has an axe to grind – a number of Reading supporters get so rattled about Dellor for whatever reason that they jump on his every utterance, as if he has any real sphere of influence on what happens on the pitch FFS. If he wants to single out a player in this poorly performing side I’d rather he chose to hurt the precious feelings of someone who won’t be here next season.

Meanwhile, two of our well played players decided to have it out on the pitch midweek. Isn’t that rather indicative of the spirit and attitude displayed by our players over the past three seasons? And infinitely more worthy of discussion that the obsession of some over Tim bl**dy Dellor?

I haven't heard the interview, not really interested in yet more idiocy from Dellor. He was utterly incoherent at the end of the match, ranting nonsense like a lunatic and even half asked to be taken off air. In that context, I don't think it's appropriate for him to be interviewing the manager... or getting any further air time until he's pulled himself together to be perfectly honest.

Why the hell is McDermott apologising for reacting to Dellor's ridiculous witch hunt? Shame it wasn't Wally Downes or Kevin Dillon being interviewed - they would have probably decked the pompous public school twat!

Yeah. How very dare he recall two of the most significant events in the game and then ask questions about them! Who does he think he is, a fcuking journalist or something?

id have thought the last minute goal and our competing with and nearly beating the probable champions may have merited some sort of comment too

Nothing really wrong with Dellor's interview no, although I think as an interviewer he probably could've handled McDermotts hissy fit a bit differently (as Peachy, from a journalists point of view) but he asked the questions he had to.

Perhaps he could've ordered his questions a little differently instead of diving straight into the sensitive Vydra questions (sensitive because of their previous conversations).

Has anyone actually been slagging Dellor off for the interview itself though? I thought it was more his commentary meltdown that was the real bone of contention.

McDermott handled it badly though. As a professional manager he's supposed to deal with the media and his meltdown wasn't very professional or helpful.

So, in order to pass your test for what constitutes an acceptable interview Dellor would have to ask all his questions up front, rather than going for the two most obvious talking points then moving on to a wider analysis?

One minute people are complaining about him not being being sufficiently impartial, the next they're complaining about him not asking questions in a sufficiently loyal and supportive manner.

Dealer is a LOCAL journalist talking about a game of football.

This isn't high-powered investigative journalism: not Sink the Belgrno

First Dellor wants to make himself part of the news instead of a commentator.
he was part-responsible for pushing out Adkins, "did work on" Clarke and
now has started on McDermott.

His OVERALL attitude, (the rabid nature of it) towards Vydra is not merely
unprofessional, it smacks of me-me, and/or an agenda, and IMO Dellor
has slowly but surely been getting more and more extreme over the last
couple of seasons, so far now that I seriously doubt that he's 100% mentally OK

I choose my words carefully, and I don't think his reactions are in the normal range

When Cox scored, Dellor went off on one, NOT about "Hey we've equalised" but
he was trying to say something about VYDRA. Then he stopped android, "I'll come back
to that." The guy is so oxf*rd freaked out by Vydra that he looks for issues even when
we are scoring a perfectly good goal away to the champions elect.

The way the interview should have been conducted was CALMLY.

First he asks, "Brian, your thoughts on the game?" and after Brian has had
his chance to air the usual, the journalists should then ask, respectfully
something on the lines of. "Unfortunately the defeat may well have been down
to one particular striker missing what seemed to me an easy chance. Are you worried
by his poor form in front of goal?"

The point I'm making is YES, ask the question and expect a proper answer but you don';t
go in with hob-nailed boots on TRYING TO CAUSE CONTROVERSY

interviewing is about people management
its important to maintain professionalism, and not completely alien8 the interviewee from the off in order to get the best possible interview.
its nothing to do with loyalty or supportiveness,

maybe lead with the - that was a really good performance, you lot must be devastated in the dressing room.............
