Royals on the VHS/DVD - I've just finished copying my final VHS over to DVD, including some Reading VHS tapes 2-0andapenalty left on my doorstep a few years ago.

Anyway, looking at what I have I wondered which ones were missing and also, is anyone missing one they hope to track down? I know they didn't produce them every season.

Heart and Soul - The Story of Reading Football Club (VHS)
93/94 - Year of the Royals (VHS)
94/95 - Record Breaking Royals (VHS)
00/01 - Tenacity, Spirit and Flair (VHS)
01/02 - Royals on the Up (VHS)
02/03 - Elevation (DVD)
03/04 - Pride, Passion and Loyalty (DVD)
05/06 - Champions! (DVD)
06/07 - The Official Season Review (2x DVD)
07/08 - The Official Season Review (DVD)

Hi Forbes,

Agree with that list, but there are a few I have that you have missed (or am I missing the point of the list - I haven't trawled back through the thread so apologies in advance if I'm wasting everyone's time).

86-87 - Highlights from the Royals Season 1986-87 (VHS)
87-88 - Royals Gems 1987-88 (VHS)
Simod Cup Final - Royals Day at Wembley (VHS)
11-12 - Champions 2011-12 (2xDVD)

I can also confirm that no DVD was produced for 2004/05.

Hmm, I have that DVD, wonder why I left it off the list.

If you want the other VHS ones converted to DVD let me know, I can stick them in the VHS player, press play and then press record on the DVD recorder (although I tend to record them to the hard drive first in case I need to make a replacement copy).

I watched a few of the Elm Park games from the mid-90's and the game seems to have changed alot over the years without me realising at the time - the ball seems lighter, the pace faster and the crowds larger.

Hey Forbs, I purchased a VHS (I think it is the Pride/Passion/Loyalty one from 03/04) and it sadly does not play on my U.S. VCR player (it plays, but you can't see or hear anything, its all fuzzy). If I bring it over in a few weeks, could you burn it to a DVD for me? Is there a difference between UK and US DVDs like there is for VCRs?

I bet Silver Fox would know. :-)

There are DVD Regions and regional coding on most DVD players.

USA is Region 1
UK is Region 2
Other continents/coding - Not applicable
No Coding is Region 0

I suspect my DVD Recorder will copy it down as Region 2 but I can easily stick it in my PC and convert it to Region 0 and burn back to another blank DVD.

In the UK many get their DVD players chipped to play multi region, or they buy a DVD that is advertised as multi region (usually the cheap ones), Some you can just press a combination of buttons to get to a secret menu and change the region to region 0. In the USA there may not be much demand for region free DVD players so this may not be a thing over there.

Blue Rays may be the same, I've not looked into it.

You can try it on your PC, then rip it yourself

Most PCs and DVD players will allow you to change the region settings at least once or twice

Of course, in America...

IIRC - DVD drives firmware allow you to reset x number of times but also windows has a separate restriction, so probably worth looking into this before changing to another region - If an option, region 0 would, I believe let you play everything.

If you have a liteon DVD drive there is a tool you can download called ltnon (or similar) which allows you to reset the number of times you can change the drive - Although I've not yet tried operating it under windows 10.

BBC Berks on the radio and GetReading Twitter is the closest we are getting for updates in Holland tonight. Expecting the club social media updates to be non existant once again.

What's the point of BBC Berks going over there if they're not going to do live commentary? Waste of my licence fee
