tidus_mi2 Thing is, people only gave Vydra the benefit of the doubt for so long because he has shown remarkable goal scoring form in this division before, the issue is he hasn't really recreated that outside of Watford. This to me suggest Vydra isn't really that great, it would be great if we could get that perfect set up and perfect conditions to get him being top scorer in the division but a good striker will be successful wherever they go.

Look at le Fondre and Lambert, they have had much more successful spells than flops, you've always had a good chance of getting goals with players like that, rather than strikers like Vydra who seem very one dimensional.

Maybe so, but you have to see who is available and at what price ! Anyone decent has a price tag which rules us out ...

Well that's the thing. In the end it all comes down to a valuation. There is no chance that we would risk any more than £500K on him having witnessed this past season. Anything more would be mental and incredibly risky.

There is a chance that he could rediscover his goal scoring form and then he would be worth £8 or £9million in the Championship.
Based on what we know about Vydra, all he has proven to us is that signing him would be a stupendous risk. If we shelled out £3million and he flops again then it will be damaging to Reading FC because that money could have been spent on players that would be winning us matches.

In my opinon it is only worth risking £500K for the chance that he may become that player that Watford fans hold in extremely high regard. There is too high a chance that he won't ever become that player again.

Crux Judging by the obsessive manner and content of his posts, Top Flight is either very new to football or is a woman.

He just posts the same things time and time and time again.

Calm down, woman.

that's hardly a crime in these parts!

Thanks Bcubed. I would have responded to Crux myself but I was too busy posting repeats of everything that I have said before.

Ian Royal I can't see Warnock keeping Rotherham going long. He's your classic interim get out of jail manager these days. Ultimately, they aren't good enough and they'll get found out sooner or later.

Only 3 points behind Reading, Ian, so presumably you'd agree that you could say that same about us :?:

McDermott =/= Colin, tbh.

No, not really.

Colin's bounced them short-term to survival, and they're a lower Champ, decent League One side on the whole.

Whilst we're an underperforming side otherwise more fitted to the top half of the Championship.

I expect them to be fighting relegation next season and probably failing. I expect us (or a team like us) to be at least mid-table again.

What should be Villa's expectation next season in the Championship Ian?

Warnock has done a brilliant job to drag them clear of relegation, he quickly turned their fortunes around and should be given credit for that, I wish we could say the same ..

Top Flight And also consider that Rotherham will be in much better shape with Warnock in charge. Bristol City look like they are finding their feet under a new manager. We are the club that will be going through the most transition and change and that is what makes us vulnerable and put's us at risk. Often when a club does face that amount of change it can have seriously negative consquences.

Brian has a big job on his hands.

I can't see Warnock keeping Rotherham going long. He's your classic interim get out of jail manager these days. Ultimately, they aren't good enough and they'll get found out sooner or later. He's worked his normal brand of determined thuggery to bully them up the table, but it's not the sort of thing that works for 18 months, 3-6 months, yes.

I'm not sure Colin would agree with that label. He is a top manager at this level. It will be interesting to see what he can achieve on Rotherhams budget. I wouldn't put it past him to get Rotherham in the play offs next season.

if he keeps em uphe will have performed another miracle proven himself yet again as an astute manager at this level, capable of saving teams, as well as being capable of taking teams up, and thus guarantee a shed load of other clubs better than Rotherham will be looking at him in the summer or January. id put good money on him not being there at the end of next season.

Id have him here in a heartbeat if brian fails next year

Next season is going to be very, very difficult & relegation a real possibility.

McD will have a very limited budget-hopefully despite his limitations as a Manager; his universal scouting knowledge of every player in the four divisions & those players who will be available; will enable him to come up with a couple of really useful relative unknowns.

While a lot of players across all positions will be gone this summer-I hope he puts all his money on a couple of strikers to replace them-our goal scoring record has killed us over the last couple of seasons. We probably have just about enough cover elsewhere -if we fit the kids in when injuries kick in.

Of course if some mug buys Danny Boy for £4-5 mill-managing the budget would become a lot lot easier.

sounded upset to me, though I admit its hard to tell in a text conversation.
you called me a numpty, then deleted it, then posted something else, and now youre having a go again.
this is all the evidence I have to hand, so im just making assumptions based on it.
if you say youre not upset ill accept that and be pleased I didn't upset anyone.

Like the other 23 clubs in the league. Promotion. No point in participating otherwise.
