Well we will all be able to see soon how much the Thais are prepared to invest in players, we are expected to lose several players this summer, over and above all the loans retuning to their parent clubs, so we will be able to gauge the interest they have in the team or are they here just for the development, and once completed do a runner and sell up ?

Also we will finally get to see the much saluted " Brians" team. I would guess that the first six weeks or so of next season will see what the future holds for both he and the Thais at Reading.

Longhorn1970
Lower West Hurtado set Reading back £1.5m .
Sa £1.13m

These were Clarke's signings.

As were Quinn, McShane and Al Habsi all free i believe ...

No- Hurtado, Sa and Fernandez were owner signings.

Not really sure what you mean by that remark, I don't own a play station. Warburton, a mediocre Brentford manager just waltzed through the Scottish league so what are you saying?

Top Flight I didn't see his interview but it does show I guess based on your comments that the manager is working in a very difficult environment. A lot of our problems stem more from poor leadership from the very top. Not from the team managers position. In this kind of environment, I wouldn't want anyone other than Brian managing the team. Brian is a true character. Weaker men like Clarke are ready to jump ship at the first sign that things won't be easy.

Brian kept improving us year after year despite having to sell the best players each transfer window. Brian thrives in adversity. Useless whingers like Clarke just try to walk away. We need someone with loyalty and some backbone right now and Brian is our man. Long live Brian.

Your quote Top Flight, "This is why it doesn't pay to fire managers too early. Clarke should have been given a lot more time. He was prematurely fired" ..

Pepe the Horseman No wonder we've struggled so much this season with all those loan players and other signings playing for free.

bobby1413 He did also mention the AZ saga and how it screwed us up.

said: the Thais came in with enough to buy the club but not with any money left for anything else

He did play down the Fulham thing I think as when asked to explain it he said:

Fulham asked Reading for permission to speak to me.
They said ok
I spoke to Fulham
But I decided to stay with Reading
3 games later they sacked me
If I had known they had that in mind I would have left and gone to Fulham

... Also...

"Look at the top of the table - Burnley we beat, boro we beat, Brighton we drew with. They are the top 3 teams. "

BS - Clarke agreed a deal and then got greedy and asked for more money, Fulham said get stuffed and it all collapsed. Basically what was reported in the Fulham forums, etc. was correct.

Sutekh I understand from what TD was saying on BBC Berks yesterday though that they will be trying to get some comment/interview with the Thais either directly or via Nigel as soon as possible.

It would be nice to hear some sort of spin from the directors prior to the end of the season, both in terms of what we can expect in the summer from the Thais and what their thoughts are right now, following a poor season. It would be nice to get the final say on the Rybolovlev rumour too, if there really is / was any interest from the Monaco owner. That's gone very quiet, along with the REP planning submittal.

Names mentioned in this thread earlier, Hurtado and Semedo, does anyone expect Hurtado to be back ?? and out of interest what happened to Semedo ??

With Semedo, I suspect we just took a punt on him, a cheap, low risk, potentially high pay-off signing.

He also said he had 3 games after talking to Fulham one of which he won. A lucky 2-1 win over Bolton the worst team in the league.
A tough game at Forest (his words) They have been shite. And a last minute defeat to QPR. Possibly the worst game I have ever seen at the Mad Stad. Whilst results have not improved under Brian, I would say the performances have been better than shower.

sandman Who would have thought that the Thai's don't have money? What a revelation.
Probably not the £m's he was hoping to spend.
