Hurtado has been on loan for a month and a half and has still not made it off the bench. ..

What is the point of re-calling Stacey with just one game left ?? Not going to see much of what he can do in a single game, what a waste of time, should have been playing along with Keown, Fosu & Barrett a month ago, sure as hell couldn't look worse than what has been seen recently.

He needed loan spells to get up to speed after his injury against Derby, it makes sense that if we couldn't guarantee him game time, sending him out on loan was the best option.

So Carlisle are out of the play-off hunt and we have a dead rubber and suddenly a lack of wingers, probably a good time to try him out.

True.

It seems, whatever Brian does, he's going to get slammed by someone.

Why not bring him back and let's have a look at him? Brian has alot of decisions to make this summer. The more information and knowledge he has about our players the better. Let him experiment and see how Stacey performs against Championship opposition. It's not going to do any harm.

I agree with you that he should have started experimenting earlier. But it's still worth having a look even it's just for one last 90 minutes.

(I hope I didn't offend anyone for expressing a view. Ian, was that the right answer?)

Stacey was injured at Derby a year ago and since has done a short term loan to Barnet in November, so can't see him being short of match fitness ??

and in that loan spell at Barnet he played a grand total of twice.

Nothing wrong with the idea that Stacey needed a good run of proper first team games, and not just 20 minutes here or there, in order to get fully fit. Recalling him early just means McDermott can get him involved and suss him out a bit before making his choices on the balance of the squad over the summer.

I'd loved to have seen Stacey, Keown and Barrett play more over the last few games. Pretty sure Keown has been injured though.

Surely it's better that he plays a meaningless game in the Championship than a meaningless game in League Two?

But I agree it would've been nice to see them earlier.

brian knew those players would be here next season.
brian needed time to have a good look at all the other players to decide if we wanted to keep em/sell em, return the loans/buy th eloans

Guess that Vydra and Kanu will be absent on Saturday. So need to fill the bench.

Possibly because Carlisle have nothing to play for, and as we are playing Blackburn which is not really that far from Carlisle it might be good for the lad to meet up with the team.

Sometimes things are really that simple.

Of course one game is enough time to have a look. McDermott's seen him in training, will have got reports on how he's doing out on loan. It's not like anyone is suggesting that Stacey gets one game to prove his value now and forever or is dumped on the scrap heap.

You're being rather hysterical

Also no bad thing to give the lad a little indication that he'll be involved next season. Might give him a little off season boost knowing he'll be part of the plans for next season.

Really hope he gets a chance next season, has the potential to be very good. Think we've missed someone with genuine pace out on the wings who can beat a man in a 1 on 1 this season (with McClearys lack of form)

think that is pretty much assured.
what we must hope is that he grabs the opportunity with both hands
