floyd__streete I find the HRK h8 a bit short-sighted tbh.

Me too. Never really thought ill of him, shame he didn't kick on after an excellent few months in our Premier League season.

You also can't really knock him for wanting to play there, he's not exactly going to think he can't do it. Especially not if Swansea have shown an interest (which they have).

"Sorry guys, I'm not going to let my contract run out at Reading. I'm not a good enough player for you"

Can I just say his goals and assists won us 14 points this season, without which we would've been releg8ed :?:

This really.
I just think its a bit right club, wrong time - because I think we're looking for VFM at the moment and I'm sure he's on a decent whack and, thus, he needs to deliver more games. Same with Ferdinand. I think Cox has been out of favour with more than one manager, so that's a no brainer.

It's almost as if Reading have a bunch of dull-witted, short-sighted reactionary fans!

True, but that assumes without HRK in the side we wouldn't have got those 14 points, We might have got more, we might have got less depending on who was playing in his place.

Yeah, I know, we wouldn't have been relegated without him. But he still contributed a decent amount to the team, more that a lot of players in less appearances. He doesn't deserve the stick he gets.

Robson-Kanu has been alright, not a lot more, not a lot less.

At times he's looked like he was ready to fulfill the potential he undoubtedly has but for too long he's flattered to deceive (he's by no means alone in that respect though).

As for being loyal, the only thing I can see him being loyal to is the pay packet. It's not too long ago that he was holding out for better offers from anyone so that he could leave but, despite numerous come and get me pleas, he ended up staying.

I agree with you totally on HRK. He's a good player but he's only loyal to the money.

He has been underrated by our fans. He is a much better player than he gets credit for.

It's also true that he hasn't been consistent for us. Mainly because of injury. For that reason, I'm happy to see his wages freed up to be spent on someone else.

Yep HRK was the only disappointment, we don't know but perhaps he turned down a new deal on less lolly ..

In fairness, most players are only loyal to the money, especially when they get further along in their careers.

It's easy for players in their early 20s who aren't exceptional to stay loyal to a club, while trying to establish themselves and find their level. When they get a little older, many want to move on and test themselves at a higher level. This invariably means more money, or a longer contract perhaps. There are always players who don't move on quite so quickly, but most who are good enough will move up.

Hal's almost 27 now. He should be hitting his peak and will be coming off the back of a campaign at the Euros - he will see this as a perfect opportunity to try and get in the Prem, especially without a transfer fee.

It's a possibility my friend. I agree, HRK going was the only disappointment, but we'll be alright. We got super Brian managing us.

I don't disagree, unfortunately, I was merely responding to all the comments about him being such a loyal servant of the club when we know he's tried to go elsewhere at least once since making his name here.

Really should have given Cox another contract.

Although given a chance by Brian never stood out in any match I saw. Neat and tidy isn't enough.
