Winston Smith
Winston Smith Joe Cole to Tampa Bay Rowdies

just read that Freddy Adu plays there and is on $3500 a month (that's £29,000 a year).

He most recently failed to get a contract at a Serbian team and then joined a Team in Finland but only played in their reserve team in the Finnish 3rd division before they cancelled his contract

he is Royston Drenthe!

West Ham really are beginning to rip the piss with the spare money they have after being given a stadium.

I knew West Ham got it cheap but I didn't realise how cheap. £15m towards conversion costs and £2.5m rent per year inclusive of all bills (policing, stewarding, heating, lighting).

OLOLympic LOLegacy.

So the stadium cost £272m to convert for football use. Minus the £15m that West Ham paid leaves £257m which is £10m more than the rental income for the duration of the 99 year lease.

Basically it's costing more to convert it to a football stadium than the entire football related revenue it will generate over the next century and that's without factoring in the fact that the rent also covers bills.

Great for West Ham but what the fcuk was Boris thinking when he signed that one off?

Apologies for this have g nothing to do with transfer speculation.

Don't worry, I'm sure the next couple of athletics meets before West Ham somehow manage to get them moved elsewhere will easily bring in a few hundred million.

Portuguese media say Benfica are in discussions with Atletico to sell Andre Carrillo to them for €25M.

Carrillo only signed a contract with Benfica in February to join them this July 1st on a free as his contract is up.

Nice profit for Benfica selling a player that hasn't even joined them yet, if that is allowed to go through of course (needs UEFA approval)

It really does stink of West Ham getting an unfair advantage over the rest of football.

The only thing that goes against that is, IIRC, that they don't actually get to keep any of the match day revenue (tickets aside) so there is additional income for the stadium corporation on top of the rent. They'll also get the knock effects of being able to maintain it for functions etc that otherwise would just become a wasted building.

Hell of a deal for West Ham though.

Xhaka confirmed at Arsenal for £30m. Good player, but not the sort of signing Arsenal need IMO

Moves that apparently will scupper a potential transfer of Thomas Vermaelen to Liverpool, the defender less likely to leave the Nou Camp if chances of playing time increase.
