Top Flight Even if the Thai owners are genuine and really do want to make RFC a success. They don't have the knowledge, experience or competence to successfully manage the football club. They are out of their depth and are making mistakes.

Top Flight I'm still feeling p*ssed off with our Thai owners.
I thought I would have been feeling alright by now. But nothing feels right about Reading Football Club anymore. It's a strange feeling. RFC feels so wrong at the moment. This is the sickest I've ever felt about our football club. I can't see us playing in the Premier League again in my lifetime. We had our moment. Now it's gone. We are heading back to our historical norm of third tier football. Our playing budget is probably going to be very similar to that of Swindon Town and Oxford United in the next couple of years. We're just going back to where we belong. A third rate football club.

You need to see a doctor about your emotional instability

Boo freaking Hoo.
So what if we never get back into the Prem? When I started supporting the club (which was only 15 years ago) I never thought we were going to get there in my lifetime, I always thought we were a million miles away but we got there. My dad and his brothers started supporting the club in the late 60's early 70's and they thought we were never going to get to the top division. If they thought that then why support the club in the first place?
Yes being part of the elite is obviously nice, but it isn't the be all and end all, well not for me anyway. We are only as good as the level in which we are currently competing in, if that happens to be the Prem great, if it happens to be in league two, great as well. The idea of being a supporter of the club is you stick it out through thick and thin. At school, I could have easily chosen to support Man Utd or Arsenal (who were the two best teams at the time) but that didn't interest me in the slightest. I don't want to support a team that I have no connection with, that success is a given - where is the fun in that?!
It's a struggle at the moment, we can all agree on that, but at the end of the day it's football. That's it, it isn't life and death, the world will continue to turn if Reading are top of the Prem or bottom of the football league.
If you want instant success and lots of glory then I'm afraid you're supporting the wrong club. But for me, these hard times and getting through these hard times make those rare moments of success, even more precious and feel like even more of an achievement and you can celebrate them harder.
In terms of the manager I think Zola would be a good appointment as would Stam at the end of the day it's ultimately down to the players on the pitch to perform, if the man coming in can get them motivated, great, then he is the right man regardless of any previous experience.
Some people on here might need to take a look at themselves and have a bit of a reality check as to why they started supporting a club like Reading in the first place.

Ascotexgunner Still stunned by the sacking. He didn't deserve that...w@nkers.....never gave him a proper chance.
Me wonders if Dave Royals vision of Neil Warnock that he said 3 months ago is coming to fruition.

paultheroyal I am happy to experience the Thai way for awhile. If I owned the club and was recommended Adkins, Clarke and McDermott with zero return I would want to have a go at recruitment myself.
Hope it's Stam and look forward to new method and ways!

Top Flight Looks like you were right Dave. You said it would be a 2 year deal and that it would be announced this week. You have good connections in the ticket office.
by Top Flight » 07 Jun 2016 10:32
Rollerbob Bit rich for you to be saying "you have our support" TF.
You've been slagging of his lack of experience and stating how he'll definitely get us relegated next year ever since the rumour started.
Hopefully he'll get confirmed this week and people can start actually giving him a chance and stop slagging off both him and the club.

In addition the Tractor Boys have paid the League Two outfit £750,000 - a record fee under boss Mick McCarthy with Webster having signed a three-year contract.
