Avon Royal The ref was exceptional, would love our domestic refs to officiate like that.

Apart from not giving an blatant penalty of course.

If we'd lost that game and they actually went back to look at it the ref would've been getting pelters for bottling that one.

He let quite a lot go though, and I think that added to a pretty entertaining game though.

There have been some strange refereeing decisions... quite a few throws and corners/goal kicks given the wrong way, fouls missed or non-fouls given. Nothing particularly game changing though - I can even understand the ref missing the push on Alli in the box. But in general the standard has been very good, with every attempt made to keep the match flowing and not pander to diving, injury pretending a-holes.

Clattenburg even got through a game without dropping a clanger for the first time I've ever seen as well.

Blatant penalty? One of the handballs?

Push on Alli, no? Would have been softer than a Mr Whippy, but it was a nailed on foul

That's what I thought. It was a clear two hand shove in the back that prevented Alli from jumping and took him under the flight of the ball so Chester(?) could head it clear. Softer than Softie McSoftersson from Softshire, Softland, but still a penalty.

A goal of a quality quite unlike the rest of the game.

Not a great game but Eder's goal was decent.

England thoroughly deserved to beat an insipid Welsh side yesterday who were dominated for the majority of the game. Hard to break down a packed defence (particularly so with no natural wingers) but Sturridge picked a way though excellently.

I'll continue to support Wales and N Ireland, hope the both get through.

Watched the first England game out in an NI pub. They were all* delighted when Russia equalised.
