Well, not exactly harsh LUX, but maybe a bit churlish. Not entirely convinced he meant it.

Either way, delighted for the Welsh and Reading boys.

When he shaped up to do it, there was a 50:50 chance of a fan getting injured.

LUX Bale fairly invisible, except for that pass to Ramsey for the second goal.

That's been Bale all tournament, done nothing apart from be involved in the key moments of the games.

The comparison between him and Ronaldo will be unavoidable in the run up to the semi but I'd rather have Bale's tournament than Ronaldo's. Bale has been quite low key but his contributions have been game changing. Ronaldo's been involved in everything but has been hugely profligate and Portugal are yet to win a game in normal time.

Wales v Iceland Final anyone?

Well done Wales, even if Belgium are hugely overrated that win was still some achievement and deserved.

Belgium aren't over-rated at all. World class team with world class players

I was thinking earlier, that between them Belgium and England have rather a lot of their best players at sides in England who have choked this season.

Spurs - contrived to finish third in a two horse race by utterly bottling the last few games
Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Dembele, Walker, Rose, Dier, Alli, Kane

Chelsea - defended their title by being a 10th placed shambles
Hazard, Courtois, Cahill,

Man City - great squad, finished 4th
Hart, Sterling, Denayer, De Bruyne

Not exactly the kind of season you want to take into a major international tournament and suggests quite a lot of mental weakness.

Belgium have some fantastic players, although not as good or as many as people like to make out. I'm just not convinced they have a team. I mean, they lost to the first good team they played at the World Cup, lost to the only good side they played at the Euros and went out to Wales. The record of this 'golden generation' of theirs is remarkably like England's traditional performance.

Loved the inference in the commentary last night that Kanu will have no trouble finding a top club.
Competitions like this have seen many over the years where players have exceeded their normal standard and then reverted to type.
The obvious one was that dreadful man El-Haj-Diouf who IIRC was bought for £10 million.

It will be interesting seeing clubs queuing up to sign Kanu.....and then he ends up at Cardiff after flopping in the next game.
In fairness his goal was good but I had said to the missus earlier (she feigned interest) that Vokes might well have scored with the header that Kanu meekly headed over-I felt a bit vindicated by the last goal.
