Hoop Blah
genome I see all the news outlets are conveniently leaving out the word "suspended" in their headlines.

I might be wrong but I think that's because it's not suspended, it's just going to be served on probation.

Obviously doesn't make for such a good headline though!

i'll put you on probation in a minute!

Ex-England striker Marcus Bent has been fined for having cocaine on him at the Chessington World of Adventures children's theme park.

Former Premier League star Bent - who starred for Everton, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace among others during his 17-year professional career - appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court this morning.

Bent, who lives in East Molesey, Southwest London, pleaded guilty to one count of possessing cocaine - a class A drug - at the theme park yesterday.

The former England Under 21 international, who scored 113 goals in 574 professional games for 14 different clubs, was fined £385, with £85 costs.

The fallen star is now believed to work in the oil industry after retiring from football.

In September last year he was charged with affray and possession of a Class A drug after cops used a taser to arrest him at his Esher home.

He had called 999 himself after believing intruders were in his house - and confronted the police with a meat cleaver and kitchen knife while under the influence of the drug.

Then in February this year he admitted to one charge of affray and possession of cocaine and was given a suspended 12-month prison sentence, a two-month curfew and 200 hours of compulsory unpaid work.

Chessington World of Adventures is a popular theme park near Kingston upon Thames - about 12 miles southwest of London.

It incorporates a zoo with more than 1,000 animals and popular family attractions with names like Pirates Cove, Forbidden Kingdom and Land of the Dragons.

lol
what sort of idiot takes drugs to a theme park?

I've been on the vampire roller coaster there and let me assure you its exciting enough.

He didn't declare his goal bonus so decided to stop scoring instead.

It's also not Rumour or Gossip

All in all, a fairly shocking choice of forum.

Not a footballer but our very own Anton Zingarevich under investigation for fraud, by Russian authorities, according to the Chronic

http://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport/readingfc/14613343.Reading_FC__Former_Royals_owner_Anton_Zingarevich_is_the_subject_of_a_fraud_investigation/?

A CRIMINAL investigation has been opened against former Reading FC owner Anton Zingarevich on suspicion of embezzlement.

Russian authorities have accused the 34-year-old businessman of embezzling a $156 million loan from MTS Bank and diverting part of it intended for another of his companies towards the Atlant Moscow Oblast hockey club.

The news was reported yesterday in Russian newspaper Kommersant, which also suggests the remainder of the money was transferred abroad.

An investigation was opened on July 5 by Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs into alleged “large-scale fraud” by Zingarevich and Konstantin Shishkin, who is the CEO of Zingarevich’s publicly listed Energostroyinvest Holding.

Investigators allege that in 2013 Shishkin and Zingarevich used Energostroyinvest Holding as a guarantor for a loan from MTS Bank to another company, Engineering Center Energy, which was fraudulently diverted elsewhere.

Zingarevich, who once attended Bearwood College in Wokingham, took control of Reading FC from Sir John Madejski in 2012.

He was in charge when Brian McDermott won promotion to the Premier League the same year, but left under a cloud in 2014 with the club in serious debt and close to administration.

He eventually sold his stake to the current Thai owners.

Chris Samuelson, the Swiss-based financier who was on the board of directors when Zingarevich's Thames Sports Investment company ran the Royals, is now vice chairman at Aston Villa with new owner Tony Xia.

Not sure if this one has been mentioned before, but the start of the non-league season reminded me as this bloke was at Marlow last season (or maybe the season before).

Again, not a footballer but the owner of Ipswich Town has an arrest warrant issued for him in Brazil due to running a £2.5m Olympics "hospitality ticket" scam.

Was also involved in the tickets for the Olympics in London.
