Hang on !
Did not Leicester sign an unknown player called Riyad Mahrez from the same French team Le Havre in 2014?
Turned out he scored 19 goals last season in the Premiership, and was the Premiership player of the year !
He could be that we have also found a gem, who might just bang in the goals as well.

howser Good to see so many welcoming him to the club, he is damned before he has even kicked a ball lol !

Exactly. See my post above.

I think we all know some serious squad Recruitment is needed this summer; we don't have an abundance of cash, so it's good to see these much needed first squad signings and Jaap can spend a what little money we have later in the window when the market opens up a bit. It's July 8th people, have some perspective.

Well said Bluerinse, a nice bit of positivity, if they´ve bought him in its because they think he s going to bring something to the table, in youtube I though he looked strong with good pace

Manset, although he came from Hereford Utd, but was at Le Havre before that

Hoping it turns out to new a masterstroke but signings like this really don't make you think the club want to stay up let alone challenge for even a top half finish.

Still at least he doesn't come in with any expectation and presumably doesn't cost anything in the grand scheme of things so it should be easier for him to rise to the challenge.

Wonder if there's any chance of him being involved over at "The Wood" tomorrow.

Looking on forums, all I can see is

According to France Football, Joseph Mendes left Le Havre for Reading (Championship - English League 2).
At 25, good for him if he had the opportunity to sign a good contract.
Because until then, before the HAC, he had a just struggled. He has shown his qualities and his great fighting spirit. The HAC has lost a very good header player, one of the best in Ligue 2.

There's a little more here too

http://forum.infohac.com/index.php?page ... 447&pg=102

We left for 5 pages between anti-Mendes, anti-Volpé-who-done-that-of-business and proverbs and quotes in broken English. I regret Joseph is leaving to an English D2, but it can be called a just arrived bringing a little more quality. to see in the coming weeks. Good luck to him in any case, he will have played his part last season!

It's not the greatest player we have seen, but despite the shortcomings that could reproach him, he never cheated on and off the field. Good luck to him.

Mendes ... The man who will replace Robson-Kanu in the hearts of fans in Reading ...

I liked Mendes. A nice player and available to young people. My children will be disappointed again. Good for him. The Hac allowed him to progress, it will remain on a high and avoid the season too that Havre.

Not necessarily very gifted player, with more defects and quality, but useful to the team as a pivotal game, his fighting spirit.
He could still serve us this season, including bank exit.
Good luck to him, English L2 may suit him.

Couple of comments that he's "strong" and about his determination/fighting spirit on the pitch.

Sounds like a low cost low risk signing.

Could be the next Nick Blackman - rubbish everywhere except under one manager and one formation, Hopefully that manager being Jaap Stam and that formation being 4-3-3 or whatever we go with..... sadly no Nicky Hammond to sell him on to Derby for £m's in 6 mths time.

I wouldn't give NH too much credit for getting money for Blackman - Derby were just gagging to spend some money to get to the Prem!

Last seasons goals are here

Sounds like he has some talent, but falls over his feet - a lot. Like an early Jimmy Kebe,..

Hoping for someone with a Jimmy Quinn quality now....

I can't get the goals video to load in the office, but the tweet trailer had a very nice header from him in it!

Looks like he can head the ball.....now all we need is a corner taker who can get it past the first man :?
