Top Flight I also drained my Bet365 by backing AFL League leaders Hawthorn in their Aussie Rules match away to the West Coast Eagles. The Eagles won so that was another tenner lost.

You bet against West Coast Eagles, at home, who, of their 11 home matches this season had won 10 of them and only lost twice at home in 14 games last season?

Seriously man, listen to the advice, if you don't know about the league or sport don't bet on it. Yes there may be value to be had but do you not think they would have local people who intricately know the league / sport setting the odds? Its not some spod sat in an office in Hackney picking numbers out of his ar*e.

Sincerely hope you didn't bankrupt yourself on Burton Albion, TF.

Btw - something else to look out for, you almost always talk about how 'up for it' teams are going to be. Don't bet on teams that you think are going to be 'up for it'. You can't put a value on the collective motivations of 11 separate individuals to the extent of making a sensible bet.

That's how I do a lot of my betting, particularly in the cups and towards the end of the season and you are spot on, it very rarely works! Importantly I do it for fun and have next to no belief I will ever make money out of it, just makes games a little more interesting. Surely that's what the majority of gambling is about, fun. If you want to do it professionally (or indeed making consistent money) then you must be looking at doing it full time and have the funds to pay the mortgage, bills etc in the mean time.

How likely is it for there to be a corner in the first ten minutes of the Accrington V Burnley game tonight? Bet365 are offering 1.57 for there to be more than 0.5 corners in the first 10 mins.

I'm so confident I'm thinking of putting my whole account on it. £73 on Bet365.

Surely it will happen. Usually teams come out the blocks in the first ten minutes. There's bound to be a corner, isn't there?

Do you not think 1.57 is a good price for a corner in the first 10 mins?

Ok maybe I won't put my whole account on it. But it does look a good bet, surely?

I like that advice. I will certainly take it on board.

And I don't have a problem. I haven't placed a single bet this week which I regret. I was strongly fancying backing Sri Lanka this morning when they were 13 for 2 at a great price of 3.4. But I had all of HNA ringing in my ears telling me not to bet. But I should have done. I had a good feeling that Mendis would bat well for them.

The standard quote for corners on a whole match is around 10-11.
If we assume an average game lasts 96 minutes then , on average you might expect a corner around every 9-10 minutes .
So the true odds should be about evens for a corner in the first 10 minutes.
IMHO 1.57 is far too short-it could happen but it isn't a value bet.

Thanks Victor.

It took 1 minute 20 to get the first corner. I won £5.70 there.

If you didn't have a problem, it wouldn't always be on your mind and you wouldn't regret it. It might not be a serious problem, yet.

It will start to consume you, however much you deny it.
