You implied we get bogged down because we play possession football, so I just asked why you believe not playing possession football will stop us getting bogged down.

We certainly need to work on attacking with more urgency, but that's that will/should come in time, when the players get more used to the style, and more able to anticipate runs and passes of the rest of the team. You don't need to abandon possession football to achieve it.

I don't believe for one minute Stam wants us to walk the ball up the field slowly, with little idea what to do in the final third as the other team's players have all got back to defend by then.

I'd like to see possession with a purpose; when we do progress into their half, I like to see quick, SHORT, passing up front, with pacy forward play and movement, midfield runs from deeper positions, overloading their defence. This way is just too easy to defend against.
I know we're a work in progress, but we just look so timid.

As if it even need to be said, I am not advocating long, direct play from back to front.
