Is that 11 new players under Stam's time? (Aware Gravenberch may have been in the offing before). I don't think anyone can use the 'not his team' excuse we were giving McD.

Beerens
Blackett
Gravenberch
Harriott
Jaakkola
Maite
Mendes
Moore
Swift
Van Den Berg
Weiser

That's a whole team. Did I miss anyone?

Agree... Gravenberch was signed about three days before McDermott got the sack iirc.

Jaakkola
Harriott, Gravenberch, Moore, Blackett
van den Berg, Swift, Weiser
Maite, Mendes, Beerens

It's almost a playable XI.

Jaakkola
Moore, Gravenberch, Van den Berg, Blackett
Beerens Wieser Swift
Meite, Mendes, Harriot

If anything, Harriott is a left winger, not so sure it would go down too well having him at RB (which Moore can do). Meite and Harriott have both played LW/RW (Meite was quite often on the right at PSG).

Only square peg from a whole team would be Beerens... It could work?

We've brought quite a few left footed players this summer - Blackett, Meite, Harriott, vdB, Wieser. Plus Swift and Beerens are right footed but used to being played on the left...

Rakels could be out for a while. Suspected broken ankle. Stam wants a replacement brought in. Personally, I'd look no further than Tariq Fosu, but the kid just can't catch a break under Stam.

Apparently you'd have to be a retard to crowbar him into a right back slot.

Blackett, Moore and Swift have previously played together for England. Also played against Evans at club level. Will there be another surprise signing before the window shuts? Must look highly attractive to a player wanting to play regularly. That's on the fringes of their respective squad.

Is Williams talking contracts with the club now as is getting concerned? By doing so is flagging himself as being available. Must be one of the last big contract earners on the books.

All over everyone. We go with what we've got until January....

The EP Reading FC’s transfer business is probably done for the summer, unless the “right” player becomes available.

That is the view of Royals' assistant boss Andries Ulderink - who believes the club’s transfer activity has all been wrapped up a week before the summer window closes on Wednesday.

He did, however, leave the door slightly open to further new arrivals.

Ulderink said: "For now, I think this will be it.

“There is a chance of a loan or a free signing, but only if the right player becomes available.

“If that happens, we may look at the squad but there won’t be players coming in tomorrow and it’s difficult signing players on the (deadline) day."

Apart from the bit where he says we'll do something if someone becomes available.

Reading fans in taking the worst/most depressing part of a quote shocker.

I'm glad they aren't just going to get a player in for the sake of it, it has the be the right player.

Mendes is the only one that puzzled me, not writing him off but surely we could have got someone with a better record of less than a goal every five games in the French second tier? Its probably about League Two level, and I'd rather we'd have got someone in with a proven record in League Two for instance.
.

You realise he played on the left wing for 75% of games last year before finishing the season up front?

But the point I was making was, its still a modest record for a forward player, and surely we could have got someone better?

Point doesn't stand tbh. You don't expect wingers to score lots of goals. He finished the season up front and averaged a goal every 1.4 games when playing there.

Depends what kind of winger we are talking about. You wouldn't expect a winger in a 4-4-2 formation to get that many goals, but a winger that is part of a front 3 you would.

As long as we sign another striker though I will be happy, if not, we're going to struggle

Still after a striker:

With Wednesday’s 11pm deadline looming large, they do not have much time to find a replacement - but getreading understands the club are working hard on other targets.

They are currently exploring two options, one is a loan deal while the other is a permanent. Talks are at an early stage but those behind the scenes are confident of beating tomorrow’s deadline.
