Mickey mouse Barcelona is laughable considering their away kit.

Also. Its clearly nothing like Barcelona. Not even trying to be.

Hard to argue with that tbf. If we keep passing it about at the back like that we are going to get f*cked many times this season.

We are actually very decent once we get the ball moving in midfield and up top but there's obviously a fear about moving the ball forwards.

I hope we aren't planning to knock it around the back four for the whole season. I choose to believe that this is just the first phase in bringing in a crisp, snappy style like Swansea played in their promotion year.

Because otherwise, it's just Adkins all over again.

Given how obviously awful and easy to counter it is, and the way we desperately need a plan b, It's amazing we've won half our games. And with a couple of late goals.

It's almost like persisting with the stupid plan and iineffective play pays dividends over the course of a full 90 minutes

Well yeah, I mean all those goals we've scored from open play.

The issue is the fancying about at the back. We are very good when we are on the front foot but we are an accident waiting to happen when we stroke it about between the defenders and AAH.

Which you would know if you had attended a game.

Anyone with a brain could see the issue was Ipswich pressing high up and insufficient movement in midfield to give the CBs and 'keeper the outs they needed, so 'fancying about at the back' is through a lack of options not an intended play style. Just as the same people could see that punting it forward instead at the crowd's insistence resulted in it coming straight back in an Ipswich attack.

For the vast majority of our games so far, we've looked far from incisive and polished obviously. If we really were such a catastrophe, we wouldn't have the positive results record we do. We'd have conceded more goals, and we wouldn't have scored as many late winners.

But I wouldn't expect someone stuck in the dark ages who thinks you have to actually be physically present to watch a game understand that. I'm amazed you've managed to find the internet and join in here.

For this to work we need better movement, quicker sharper passing and not be afraid to get the ball forward.

The fact that this is still the case after 4 years is thoroughly depressing

Is our defense that open? I thought it was just the Newcastle result that we leaked goals in?

I can understand the Ipswich views as they don't see it from our perspective as a work in progress. The thing is, we should have been safe in the first half, they didn't threaten at all but in the second half they were a lot better, certainly missed a sitter when their defender miskicked a shot over the bar from 6 yards.

They certainly can't have complaints about the last minute penalty, which to be fair, they don't seem to.

A lot of them lamenting the red card (or lack there of) challenge by Evans and aggrieved he didn't walk. I thought it would have been a slightly harsh red but placed firmly under the umbrella of "seen them given".

Obviously I am slightly biased though... :?

In that time we've had four different managers and the vast majority of the squad is totally different though. So it's not like the same person has been trying the same thing with the same players and failing for four years. Adkins' style was different to Clarke's was different to McDermott's is different to Stam's. They may have all had us trying to play far more of a passing game than we did first time round under McDermott, but it's been with different ways, players and shapes.

in real time I was surprised the ref gave the free kick to Ipswich as their guy had lunged in off his feet as well

Yes that was exactly my point. Nothing as yet has worked. We struggle to get even the basics correct.

We've not been relegated despite selling a lot and having zingaravich as an owner. Basics covered for me

For all the moans from Ipswich fans about us being boring, maybe just a little of that was due to their manager's plan to stifle the game and play for a 0-0 draw.

Of course nothing has worked, we haven't tried the same thing with the same people for more than 30 games. That's my point you've missed. Patience and continuity will pay off. It's not 4 years, it's 8 games.

Leon how can you include the Stam era when saying 'nothing has worked'. He's 6 games in and is clearly getting something right. How about letting him have some time. We know this season is a 'development' season so we should be expecting progress from last season but not another title shot.
I'm expecting the system to be properly bedded in and performances being consistent in the next couple of months but if by the next window we are not comfortably mid table it will be disappointing. This squad looks stronger than last season, Stam deserves more patience than you 'have it all today' types are giving him....
