BR2 Smalling-confuses football with judo

I thought he was excellent - in fact one of the very few successes of VDG's time in charge, he has really matured as a defender.

Makes the odd bad decision here and there but i do think he's a good player

Bailley looks decent as well next to him...

No Fixed Abode Yeah. Terrible track record.

True. He has quite a record of turning attractive sides that are good to watch into dire, cynical, defensive sides that are effective (at times) but horrible to watch.
[/i].

Chelsea were excellent to watch in his first spell in charge and excellent at times when he returned in the season we won the league.

BR2 What a graceless little runt Mourinho is-the envy in his voice with his throwaway line about Liverpool as an entertaining side was so cringeworthy especially when your own club has spent the annual budget of some third world countries on the most expensive (attacking?) midfielder in world football.

Despite what Henderson said I think Liverpool were nervous early but gradually got into the game and dominated possession in the second half without an end result in part because of the brilliance of the keeper-I wish he would go back to Spain.
I think I heard it correctly that this game saw the lowest possession stat for Man Utd in Premier League history-if Liverpool are a long way from the eras of St John, Keegan, Souness and Dalglish, Man Utd are even further away from the eras of Law, Charlton Best and Keane.
Lol@ Giggs saying that they must spend in the next transfer window-surely one day their managers and coaches will spend time coaching their very expensive purchases and earn their own massive salaries.

Just a few comments on the Man Utd players:-
De Gea as brilliant as ever
Smalling-confuses football with judo
Herrera-because you are little you can get away with persistent fouling but speaks very good English, better than most of their players do,including the English element.
Pogba-only one pass of any significance
Rashford-little boy lost
Rooney-old fat bloke lost

On Liverpool:-
Sturridge just doesn't fit the system and (maybe because of all the injuries) isn't brave enough
The two centre-backs-at last,2 proper defenders
The keeper-nervous and the jury is out

The managers:-
How could you dislike Klopp and how could you like yesterday's man, the Portuguese sourpuss mini Mr Bean?

As usual with these games the hype greatly exceeded the reality

What do you make of the new tier on the main stand at Anfield? Has there ever been so much fuss over an extra tier on an already existing stand? That aside, the extra capacity certainly hasn't helped with the atmosphere. Quiet again last night.

I agree, they were excellent when he took over and evolved the side and had the likes of Duff, Cole, Robben, Drogba and Gudjohnssen. I'd say they were less attractive to watch by the end of his time there, hence why Abramovich sacked him.

Wasn't a big part of their falling out that he wanted Jose to build a team that wasn't just functional but played with a bit of style and panache?

As for the second time around. Didn't they start the season on fire before Mourinho lost his bottle a bit and made them clam up after Christmas as he was scared they'd lose the league by being a reasonable side to watch?

Always the victims.....

Blimey Kes, is your life so lacking that not only do you regularly post on here about a club that you have no interest in but you trawl their local paper for any news stories?-the ultimate saddo.
BTW one of my colleagues here, a Saints fan, made the point about Tyler weeks ago before this game of being a closet Man Utd fan.
Also Tyldesley on ITV goes orgasmic whenever mentioning the name Rooney..
Such is life.

My m8 works for the paper. HTH. He regularly posts up links to football articles.
I don't know why they feel so hard done by when there is a massive over representation of ex Liverpool players in the media.

Phil Thompson
Steve Mcmanaman
Carragher
Redknapp
Souness
David James
Danny Murphy
Michael Owen
Neil Mellor
Lawrenson
Hamman

You've mentioned this before Kes - question is why it bothers you. Perhaps these players are amongst the more articulate or presentable? Certainly in the cases of Carragher, Redknapp, Murphy, or Souness there isn't a hint of bias, so what's the issue?

The issue is - Many Liverpool fans are up in arms about Martin Tylers commentary. When we know BBC, Sky and BT sport are biased in favour with the number of ex Liverpool players they have on a regular basis. In YOUR opinion there isn't a hint of bias with these pundits. I didn't notice any bias towards United from Martin Tyler.

I'm just saying, Liverpool fans out of any fans in this country have no reason to get upset about a commentator being allegedly biased.

Well, I'll stick my neck out and venture Liverpool have more fans than you could fit inside Anfield.

But yeah, I don't mind if there is a bit of bias shown in the punditry world. Anyway, I thought Tyler supported Woking.

I bet commentators back in the 80s drooled over Liverpool on the back of their success. United are just off the back of a domineering period.

You appear to be failing to appreciate the difference between bias and having represented a club. The former is a bit annoying, the latter is utterly unimportant.

Saw that oxf*rd Sturridge scored again and was shocked to see him once again do that oxf*rd horrific dance. How has no one sat him down and said "just stop it".

So there's no 'bias' in having a massive over representation of pundits from one club?
