Thing is, it's not like he's some random freebie punt brought in purely because he's cheap like Besaya was, he's got a steady if unspectacular goal scoring record but is leftfield and random enough to think me must have got a tip and seen something in him. He wasn't expensive but the wasn't free, I've seen a fee in the region of £250,000 mentioned.

And just to throw in some idle spaculation, I'm more and more convinced that McDermott was a stop gap and the intention was always to bring in Stam in the summer, the appointment of Tevreden in February being the first step in a fairly bloodless coup to ship out the old guard. There seems to be a clinical efficiency about how we go about things now which is why I reckon there's a strong chance we'll have a new forward in place by the middle of January.I wouldn't be surprised if a deal was already done pending the start of the window.

CountryRoyal Yeah in all honesty he's not very good.

Quite good with the ball at his feet against Brighton in the League Cup, not very good at going to get the ball by himself.

Really? I felt he was quite poor that game, though credit to him he ran his socks off. Haven't seen anyone puff that badly since the days of Manset.

I don't think he's necessarily going to be the greatest, but I think it's somewhat unfair to say he was poor after being injured for a good chunk etc. etc.
