Royal_jimmy
windermere_royal 106 looking in serious danger this season. Newcastle look different class. it will be a shock if they don`t do it now. 67 points needed out of a 87 point maximum,

I cant see them beating that record. They're a good side but they've lost 3 games already this season and I think they will lose a few more along the way

I will cry tears of blood if those Geordie twats beat our record.

It will be a close run thing if they keep up their current form, considering 2 of their 3 losses were the first two games of the season, their games since those read: 13 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat and are currently on an 8 game winning run. Their resources, their strength of squad, it far outstrips anyone else in this division.

Even with that in mind, put their current points tally and stretch it across the season and they would only hit 108 points and we're about to enter the busiest time of the season. Then there's every possibility Premier League clubs could come in for their players come January, or injuries, suspensions or potential drops in form to throw into the mix.

It'll be close that's for sure.

Worth saying that Sheffield United were top at this point of the season in 05/06, with 44 points.

After Newcastle's defeat, no team is currently on course to equal or better 106, hopefully it stays that way.

Sorry old bean, but that's some barking mad arithmetic you're showing there, unless I've somehow missed your point?

Newcastle, currently on 40 points after 18 matches. That leaves 28 matches to play, with 84 points to play for. 84 + 40 = 124.

So, in the Champ, the number of points that need to be dropped by each club in order for our record to be safe is as follows:-

Newcastle - 19
Brighton - 17
Birmingham - 10
Leeds / Huddersfield - 8
Sheff Wed - 7
Norwich - 6
Derby - 5
Fulham/ / Villa / QPR - 4
Bristol City / Ipswich - 3
QPR - 2
Brentford/Forest/Barnsley - 1

Will laugh if somebody like Barnsley goes and wins every single game now

Yeah, you missed his point I think. He was saying that, based on 40 points from 18 games (2.2 PPG), Newcastle are on course to finish on 102 points.
But you are also right, they need to drop a further 19 points over the course of the season

On course meaning, that if they maintain their current points per game, they won't match or beat 106. Newcastle were previously on course for a 108 season before their loss to Blackburn.

...and can't the team currently in third place get to 118 and break the record too?

For all their spending, they look a bit shit without Shelvey.
