AthleticoSpizz Gills sack Edinburgh

I wasn't surprised by the decision but was a bit by the timing. That was until I heard Paul Scally's interview on BBC local radio this morning. Basically he told Edinburgh that things needed to improve, IIRC it was the 8th November, and I suspect that had Scally not been recovering from heart surgery he may have gone sooner. Edinburgh had a fantastic first year (although I was never convinced they were good enough to go up automatically midway through last season), but things started to go wrong when I saw them in late Feb last year (the day we won at Charlton). They were dreadful that day and the atmosphere was as bad as I can remember from the times I've been to Priestfield (which given that Gills fan are quick to complain and aren't shy about rushing towards the touchline at times with the seated stewards doing bugger all  really is saying something). I knew then they'd miss the playoffs and it wasn't even that close in the end. They've been on a downward spiral ever since really.

Be interesting to see who they appoint next. Scally talked about possibly bringing in a head coach, which IMO is because he doesn't fully trust a manager to bring players in. He had a bit of a dig at the lack of impact Edinburgh's signings had made this season, and also said this is the most expensively assembled squad in his time at the club (so basically ever) and they were massively underachieving. Bradley Dack's loss of form this season is the biggest puzzle for me, and that's surely got to be as big a reason as any as to why they've struggled so much.

Whore Jackie Deal to the end of the season

Great deal for Hull tbf.

If they go down, they can wash their hands of him and it wont cost them anything to get rid. If he keeps them up great and then a new longer term deal would surely be on the cards for the manager.

I only just realised Paul Clement was the son of the brilliant Dave Clement. Because he came over from France I always thought he was French

What's the betting Charlie Brooker is your typical Berkshire lad and supports Arsenal?

Brooker used to post on a very funny Watford site I used to read (BWL, now sadly demised). He hates football apparently.

As does Ricky Gervais.

They're also ancestors of Saint Clement, which explains why they all love orange juice and lemonade.

Norwich losing to Rotherham and down to 10 men.

Surely Alex Neil must go if they lose that??

Can imagine Mrs Rowett went house hunting in Norwich weeks ago and is getting pretty frustrated with these delays now.
