BFTG - United (A)

by CountryRoyal » 07 Jan 2017 15:43

Back to the hotel for that power nap.

When you play one of the big boys you've got to be on top of your game and then some to even potentially stand a chance. We absolutely bottled it and lost the game within the first 15 minutes. That was some of the worst defending I think I've seen. If we played like that in the champ we'd be in the relegation zone. It was awful.

Very dissapointing. Still, had a laugh by the end of it and at times we played well, but very very frustrating that we just didn't play to our level.

Oh well, last time we went out of the FA Cup first (3rd) round we got promoted. Just saying.

I expected us to lose and would have been happy if we'd acquitted ourselves well but we were never at the races. Really, really disappointing performance.

This. We should be relieved it's all over. To win at old Trafford on the telly against an in form ManU. Let's all focus on the QPR game and 3 points in the champ.

Maybe so but that doesn't excuse what happened.

Not bothered. I got over it 10 minutes before half time.

Agree with CR.

Having lost I couldn't give two sh1ts about the result. Came for a weekend away and a bit of a jolly

However it was disappointing to not put in a performance we are capable of.

I really don't wanna see Blackett near the starting line up again. He's utter sh1te.

Atmosphere from home fans was terrible. Good to see away fans standing and in decent voice.

The spell in the second half was good but we just couldn't break through. It seemed like our players bottled it a bit. Some didn't look themselves, scared of the occasion maybe, I'd like to have seem more shots from distance as we weren't having any luck trying to run them all in

Anyway, I'm going to continue Resting in the hotel for a bit then go back out and drink myself stupid.

4-0 flattered us, it could have been a lot worse. We were utterly stagestruck for the first 15 mins, couldn't put a pass together. Then after we were 2-0 down, Utd backed off and that gave us time to play and grow in confidence. We did OK for the rest of the half and most of the second until Rashford caught us on the break. We never really looked like scoring but played some nice stuff. Thought Kelly and Swift had good games, Blackett was poor and rightly subbed.

OT is shit ground for an away fan, cramped concourse, tiny seats - there's bearly enough space to stand, and I have eye strain trying to spot the players from the top of the stand.

Not sure ... last night I went to the Northern Quarter as a result of recommendations on here.

Probably will do that again or Deansgate.

Need to decide on where to get grubs too! Starving!

Why worry.

On a brighter side this can only be good news for us. We've had our big TV and away day payout £££ and that leaves

Birmingham - Newcastle to replay
Barnsley to replay
Brentford go through
Massive Brighton go through
Huddersfield go through
Norwich to replay
Wolves go through
Derby go through

Fulham and Wednesday play tomorrow

Crack on while we focus on the 3 points at QPR

PieEater 4-0 flattered us, it could have been a lot worse.

That is the headline of the entire game for me.

It seemed every time Man united surged forward it looked like they were going to score.

I only saw it on TV. While they were waiting in the tunnel before coming on, the whole team looked incredibly nervous. This was evident for the first half, at least the first 20 minutes. After that, we played a bit better at times in the first half. Evans was good, as was Kelly, and AAH made a few good saves. Beerens was awful and, surprisingly, Moore did not have a very good game.

I thought that in the second half we looked more like our Champ side, and even though we let in 2 more goals, we weren't that bad. Swift was very good!! AAH's howler was unbelievable. As someone said, it was a good job the scores weren't level, or we were 1 up. At the end of the day, though, we were outplayed by a very good team and we can't have any complaints. It was only in the second half that we caused Man U any problems. Luckily we can now 'concentrate on the league' without any further injuries

OT is just too big (IMO) to get a decent atmosphere

You may think the away fans are being noisy but you can
barely see them from the other end of the ground, let alone
hear them.

Not sure why you think we are all surprised. We aren't.

As any Away fan (or indeed football fan) I always dream and hope and part believe it's possible to win against the big boys. I didn't expect it but thought we'd give them a game.

I'm not surprised to have lost 4-0 but I am a bit disappointed as I think we didn't play the way we can do.
