Its a backheel - its always an assist, even if it doesn't go in ...

I mean... Yeah.. but he passed to Obita who crossed it for the assist?

Firmly tongue in cheek I suspect

Let's rename it 'collective assistance' and call a ceasefire eh.

Urrrrrrzzzzzz

THERE WILL BE NO CEASEFIRE UNTIL WE GET BACK OUR 6 COUNTIES!

Rowett was on a disgraceful 1.49 (P 106 W42 D 32 L 32) before sacking.

Stam at 1.82 (P 34, W 15, D 5, L 10). 2nd best PPG (based on 3 for a win) of all Reading mangers behind Harold Bray (1925-26)
Best win rate at 56%

He's still got a chance of getting them out of the Championship at that rate

Currently 37 points. Keep that rate going & they'll be 43-44 points. That's in the danger zone. Would have been safe last season, but other seasons it hasn't been enough.

Hang, normal bench mark to consider yourself safe is about 54, does that mean they've got to more than double their current ppg for the remaining games?

54 is surely a figure you must have pulled out of your ass?

2015-16 Rotheham - 49
2014-15 - Rotherham - 46
2013-14 - Birmingham - 44
2012-13 - Barnsley - 55
2011-12 – Barnsley - 48.
2010-11 – Doncaster - 48.
2009-10 – Palace - 49.
2008-09 – Plymouth - 51.
2007-08 – Coventry - 53.
2006-07 – Hull - 49.
2005-06 – QPR - 50.
2004-05 – Crewe - 50.
2003-04 – Gillingham - 51.
2002-03 – Stoke - 50.
2001-02 - Rotherham - 49.
2000-01 - Palace - 49

So 49 is the average for safety over the last 16 seasons, 4 wins and theyre safe.

How confident is that play / back heel by Kelly? The whole team seems so confident (generally) - this would never have happened 2-3 years ago ...

Quick learner, gMac on Saturday and Kelly yesterday. It'll be Gunter at Ipswich

Melton Royal Bloody hell - a mid week away win :o

That was the first midweek away league win since we won 4-2 at Leeds back in 2014. A run of 20 league fixtures. Won 0, Drawn 7, Lost 13. Now it's 1 win on the trot, Huddersfield expected to be the next.....

Average isn't safe. You will almost never go down with 54. The benchmark is definitely in the low 50s. PL is 40s

Poor likkle Zola is getting all upset at Reading fans 'lack of class'.

http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gianfranco-zola-slams-reading-fc-12537906

What's most worrying, is that he expects class from football fans??!

Hang on. How exactly is the average points of safety not safe? Statistically speaking thats exactly what it is by definition.

Choosing the highest survival points since 2000 and saying "thats how many points you need to guarantee survival" is the equivalent of choosing the lowest points for a 6th place finish and saying "thats how many points you need to finish in the play-offs"

No. It's the same as picking the highest points to finish 6th and saying you need that to guarantee a play off place.

If you take the average, you fail to be safe a significant amount of the time.

Your figure of 49 points to be safe would have seen a team relegated in 7 of the seasons you listed. How on warth is that safe!?

It's not what's needed to probably stay up. It's what's needed to definitely / almost certainly stay up.

Apart from anything those points totals are presumably what the team in 21st got so more than you needed to be safe*?

No. Picking the absolute maximum points to avoid something is equal to picking the absolute minimum points to achieve something.

The high/low switches as you travel to the other end of the table.

Its safe because the other 9 seasons it was enough.. 56 points will also likely not get you relegated.. so will 58 or 60 or 65...

EXACTAMUNDO MY FRIEND! I think only twice in those listed seasons was a team relegated on GD.
