I watched Huddersfield v BHA and was pretty impressed with them tbh. I know there was a red card but they played Brighton off the pitch and clearly have some excellent players.

On this basis I'd settle for a win tonight

David Wagner:

"They play 4-3-3, playing it out from the back with quick wingers and a typical target man so we know what to expect for this game.”

Not sure you know what to expect then to be honest, more likely to be our most recent 3-4-1-2

One thing I would say is that with regards to the chasing pack, the results went our way so that even if we lose tonight, we remain 9pts clear of 7th, potentially 8 if Fulham win their game in hand.

Anyone who says they know what to expect has clearly not been watching us much

The formation changes from game to game (and during games) so do the personnel
For example, Gunter could be traditional right full back in a back four, attacking wing back in a back 5, or centre back
And in successive games GMac has played as "quick winger" putting in cross after cross (to no one in particular) and then as the second front man
And so on and on

So who knows what to expect, not Wagner I'll wager

I think he know's enough about or slow, ponderous style that who plays where won't make much of a difference.

Perhaps they'll let us win, because it's our birthday today!

Yes, exactly 145 years ago, we were in the midst of toiling through a 0-0 with Reading School on King's Meadow in our first ever game.

Cheers Terrier. A good read that. Your stats regarding our away form, against the better teams, is almost worrying  . As you say, we'll undoubtedly have to deal with a high press tonight, and a partisan crowd. Still, we're fourth in the table under our 'master tactician', and would like to think we'll make a fair fist of it. Whatever the outcome, it's got the makings of a cracking game. Salut.

yeah reasonable preview. Agree with it basically.

We have the ability in the side IMO to keep it tight, and try to frustrate Huddersfield, and use the pace of McCleary, Grabban and Beerens (possibly) on the break - which could cause them a few problems - esp if they do 'high press' like they are promising.

Haven't watched a lot of them, but believe they are little slow at the back, so if we could get a few 3 on 3 situations with the above then I think we'd have a chance.

Unfortunately, much as I like him, I think Stam is too stubborn to do this from the off, and we'll be too open in the midfield and let them dominate. I do fear for us if they score early.

They mostly think they'll win, we mostly think we'll lose.

If roles were reversed isn't this the sort of game Reading would lose, maybe the same thing can happen to Huddersfield.

Anyway, whatever happens, I hope Huddersfield go up, ideally alongside us and at the expense of Brighton.

Doesn't sound like he thinks that - "They play 4-3-3, playing it out from the back with quick wingers and a typical target man so we know what to expect for this game.”

Good post - agree with it. Don't agree with the use of white text on black background!

Looks like Waggy was right then. Assuming that's a 4-3-3.

Oxford not even on the bench.

I'm glad both Kelly and Swift aren't playing in the same XI. Midfield seems a bit more solid.

Hmm, not far off how I would have gone. Evans would have been in obviously

Guessing it will be Gunter at CB, Williams at RWB

At least we have plenty of options on the bench if it goes wrong

Tweeted saying that he has picked up a slight niggle.

Like the look of the team but would prefer to see Evans in there.
