Newcastle (H) Team and Predictions

by Royal_jimmy » 05 Mar 2017 16:07

Scoreline I will go for 2-2

The team I think Stam might play:

Al-Habsi, Gunter, Moore, McShane, Obita, Van Den Berg, McCleary, Kelly, Williams, Swift, Beerens, Kermorgant

Subs: Jaakola, Blackett, Evans, Mutch, Popa, Meite, Grabban

A much better performance than of late but still not enough to stop the north eastern juggernaut.

1-3

Gayle x 2, Ritchie for them. McCleary for us.

Think Stam will go same team bit if McCleary is fit he'll come in for Popa.

Dunno what I would do to be honest. Obita for Blackett at LB, but doubt I'm in a minority suggesting that.

I think he picked the best midfield 3 at the moment on Saturday but it didn't 100% work. I'd probably give it another go. Contrary to what many said, I thought Swift got better during the game on sat, and was a peach of a free kick for the goal. Williams is better than most people suggest on here and rarely wastes a pass, but do wish he was a bit 'tougher'

So - I'd prob go same team except Obita and McCleary in for Tyler and Popa

Prediction - 1-0 to them

I thought that was the best Swift has played for a while, though admittedly he hasn't set the bench mark high and it was only more due to him not doing anything excessively wrong rather than a lot right. Don't really recall him being as soft in possession as he has recently.

That ball for our second was beautiful though. Wolves fans bemoaning defending which I can understand but when the ball is that good it's always going to be harder to defend. They should have probably still done better but I suppose that's why they are where they are in the league.

Love the idea of playing with 12, but not even sure that would help us in this one...

2-0 Newcastle

I hope he proves me wrong but Blackett at full back vs the Championship's best wingers is a disaster waiting to happen.

I have a strangely positive feeling about this one. I am going to go 2-1 to the good guys.

I would stick obita in front of blackett. i.e play them both. The main issue and this is why blackett gets slammed is because beerens doesn't do any defensive work at all, so time and time again blackett is left exposed. So while he isn't great all the time i don't actually blame him that much for some of the stuff that happens.

It will be a tough game for sure, and i would actually put Evans on Shelvey and that would be his job all game to stop him playing.

i still think Newcastle who haven't actually looked great but somehow find a win, will destroy us.

2-0 to Reading, play offs confirmed and everyone believes in the team :))))

Kermorgant and Popa, the latter scoring a McCleary vs QPR away esque screamer that gets voted goal of the week, month, year, season and millennium.

By all accounts you were very lucky to beat a struggling Wolves side the other day, so I'll go, Reading 0-2 Newcastle.
