I think people over-estimate the amount we get from season tickets anyway.

Say we have 12,000 season ticket holders (which I think is a high estimate).

Say 9,000 paying adult price at an average of £375 = £3.375m
3,000 paying some sort of concession price at average of £200 = £0.6m

So approx £4m before VAT - £3.33m after VAT.

Is £3.33m really going to make much difference to club finances? Didn't we spend more than that on Ilori alone?

That's not my point - i'm saying that the revenue brought in from early sales isn't that significant.

Also - that in the grand scheme of things maybe the club (maybe all clubs that can't fill their stadiums) would be better off by offering season tickets at extremely low prices (say £100 each). Because then there could be 20,000 potential "matchday programs, replica shirts, hot dogs, pints of beer etc etc" to add in to those numbers.

Say we did sell adult season tickets at £100 and concession at £50. Maybe that lead to 16,000 adult ticks and £4,000 concession. That works out at a combined £1.8m before VAT - £1.5m after VAT. So a total lose to the club of £1.8m over the existing tickets.

Say that that leads to on average an extra 5,000 people in the stadium every game. If they generate just £5 profit each to the club in match day spending then that's an additional £25,000 every game, or 0.5m+ over the season. So now we're looking at a total revenue lose to the club of only £1.3m a season.

Ok I'm just making up educated BS figures here and I don't know what the correct ones would be - but i'm just making the point that for one or two fewer squad players a season we could all watch RFC for much much less.

Not so long ago we were forced to sell Adam Le Fondre for £1.6m to pay a tax bill, I'd say £3.33m, £1.3m or whatever of net income is something the club would miss - sure, like most clubs it isn't our biggest revenue stream but it is material enough to make a difference - every little helps.

Cashflow is also key here, If the club need £1.3m or whatever now to pay a tax bill then they are better off selling ST's at a reduced rate now to get it than borrowing the £1.3m form a bank or elsewhere and paying arrangement fees and interest. They are in effect borrowing the money from the ST holders and repaying them interest in the form of a discount.

Cant see any downside to this, affordable football.
Next job reduce match day prices as well.
Only a couple of seasons and I will be back in a concession rate, first time in 44 years, there were only u16 and adults, plus over 65 i think back in the day

Is there any scope for reducing match day prices ? Hard to square keeping season tickets so cheap, doing special one off deals and cutting match day costs while still affording to buy and pay players !
£20 for a match day ticket is pretty competitive .

I always felt the same, but having the boy has been just the excuse I needed, and its been massively liberating.
will probably wait now until hes old enough to come with me, so I can take enjoyment from ruining his life

Won't be renewing X2 unless they relent on the car parking issue. The risk of having the day completely buggered by a traffic jam on the way tips it in favour of a no.
