Franchise FC I absolutely detest the phrase 'back where we belong'

Yep - I hate that too

Me too. When used by our fans it shows staggering arrogance and lack of memory, when anyone else uses it, it's patronising, arrogant and dismissive.

In 2015, our average final league position over the previous 50 years was 44th (below even Oxford  ).
So on that basis, historically, we 'belong' in the third division.

But no team 'belongs' any division - they have to win the right, repeatedly, as others have said.

Next, let's discuss whether Reading are "the greatest team, the world has ever seen."

I'd say we are a top 8 premier league team who have fallen on hard times.

We'll come back though. I've stuck with Reading over the past 2-3 dark seasons we've had

Just this century our mean finish is 29th, so play off near misses rather than auto relegation to tier 3.

Certain to improve to 28th at the end of the season.

From 1990, roughly when SJM took over, our mean is 36th.

Surely, the rightful place, at any given time, is where you are at that moment. That is the place you deserve to be, as you have not done better to be be any higher. Neither have you done any worse to deserve to be lower.
