Play-Off Preview

by TerrierBlog » 11 May 2017 14:00

Hello,

I'm back, one or two of you might remember me from earlier in the season, I write a blog about Huddersfield Town and previewed our game earlier in the season.

Now I'm doing a play-off preview and asking fans and bloggers of every club involved a few questions about the upcoming play-offs and how their teams may fare. The questions are at the bottom of this post, if you could take a few minutes to answer them then I'll use them on my preview. For what it's worth I'm completely and utterly pessimistic about the play-offs and I've already resigned myself to staying down!

Ooh, by the way you can find a link to my new site here: www.terrierblog.co.uk

Here are the questions re the play-offs;

-How would you sum your season so far?

-What's your style of play?

-Who are the danger men in your squad, and who is the weak link?

-How do you feel about the play-offs? Nervous, expectant, fearful?

-Which team and individual player do you fear the most in the play-offs?

-How much of a challenge do Huddersfield Town represent to the other teams in the play-offs?

-Finally, are you going to win it and if not who will?

Thanks and best of luck against Fulham!

-How would you sum your season so far? pleasantly surprising

-What's your style of play? passy passy bore you to death

-Who are the danger men in your squad, and who is the weak link? Mcleary, Kermorgant, Swift - weak link....general inexperience

-How do you feel about the play-offs? Nervous, expectant, fearful? resigned to the future heartache

-Which team and individual player do you fear the most in the play-offs? don't fear anyone.

-How much of a challenge do Huddersfield Town represent to the other teams in the play-offs? for me you are the toughest team in there, and you've been a bit of a bogey team in the past for us

-Finally, are you going to win it and if not who will? no, we never win... if not us id prefer you to go up as you've not been there before, and are a decent football club

-How would you sum your season so far?
Pleasantly surprised, but in the end, finished where we deserve to be

-What's your style of play?
Patient and slow, keep the ball and wait for opportunities to arise, don't force them

-Who are the danger men in your squad, and who is the weak link?
McCleary when fit and on form and Yann Kermorgant. No obvious weak links

-How do you feel about the play-offs? Nervous, expectant, fearful?
Mixture of all 3, feel this play off campaign has to be our one, we can't loose another one!

-Which team and individual player do you fear the most in the play-offs?
Don't fear anyone, we could beat anyone on our day and have done this season

-How much of a challenge do Huddersfield Town represent to the other teams in the play-offs?
As much as any other, although form at the minute isnt great!

-Finally, are you going to win it and if not who will?
The winner of our semi final will get promoted IMO

-How would you sum your season so far? Very very nice surprise

-What's your style of play? slow and patient, solid at the back with flashes of high quality fast incisive play. On off days, looking like we are the easiest team in the division to work out and play against.

-Who are the danger men in your squad, and who is the weak link? McCleary (but he is half fit), Yann obviously. Swift, but he has gone off the boil a bit. No real weak links as such, though again on those same bad days Gunter and Blackett can be particularly bad

-How do you feel about the play-offs? Nervous, expectant, fearful? Not expecting anything to be honest. Knocked out vs Fulham

-Which team and individual player do you fear the most in the play-offs? Sadly probably Fulham, their lads up front look quite tidy. I think we'd have got through against either of the other 2 teams.

-How much of a challenge do Huddersfield Town represent to the other teams in the play-offs? Don't think so I'm afraid. Wagner has allowed the team to stumble into the play offs, and faced with an on form Wednesday - can't see it.

-Finally, are you going to win it and if not who will? Nope. Wednesday will, after Fulham exhaust themselves knocking each other off all week about how fantastically amazing they are.

TerrierBlog .

How would you sum your season so far?

Surprising. We have had some horrific results away from home, let loads of goals in, and yet finished third. Plus our goalie is player of the year, so it could have been worse. But we have always bounced back from those horror shows. Very proud and excited of course.

-What's your style of play?
possession

-Who are the danger men in your squad, and who is the weak link?
Kermogant ,Kelly, Williams and Macleary. No weak links, natch 8)

-How do you feel about the play-offs? Nervous, expectant, fearful?

apprehensive. Been let down too many times. I live abroad and have come over to Cardiff/Wembley to see us concede 11 goals in three finals.

-Which team and individual player do you fear the most in the play-offs?
Prolly Fulham, but they finished sixth, so they must have had some poor results, come on.

-How much of a challenge do Huddersfield Town represent to the other teams in the play-offs?

based on their early 2017 form, they are the best of the 4. They need their loanees to play, and play well.

-Finally, are you going to win it and if not who will?

I'm happy we are the outsiders with the bookies. We have one chance in four, as do you.

Best of luck to you, except against us

-How would you sum your season so far?
Significantly above expectation. No one predicted we would fluke our way to a false third spot. Feel sorry for Leeds that we have nicked the position they clearly deserve.

-What's your style of play?
Developing...
Possession based, patient, very high conversion rate of chances.

-Who are the danger men in your squad, and who is the weak link?
Kermogant up front, 35 and having his best ever season. Very much a team though, everyone contributes.
No individual weak link, every so often the whole team has a bad day.

-How do you feel about the play-offs? Nervous, expectant, fearful?
Chilled. Loving that no one thinks we have a chance, despite us having beaten everyone else, finished above everyone else, won more games than everyone else etc etc.

-Which team and individual player do you fear the most in the play-offs?
None. Why fear anyone ? Got respect for a few but there is no fear.

-How much of a challenge do Huddersfield Town represent to the other teams in the play-offs?
Significant to Wednesday. None to us or Fulham as yet. I think Wagner has possibly tried to be too clever recently and lost momentum.

-Finally, are you going to win it and if not who will?
We have as much chance as anyone. There's little to choose between the teams. Probably comes down to who keeps their head and in terms of big match experience no one comes close to Stam. I think he could be the key man.

Thanks and best of luck against Fulham!

-How would you sum your season so far?

Dank

-What's your style of play?

Ask a Leeds fan

-Who are the danger men in your squad, and who is the weak link?

Kermorgant is dominant in the air and has scored 8 goals in his last 9 games. McCleary on his day can rip up a defense (but his fitness is questionable at the moment). John Swift can be an excellent playmaker when he's switched on. Our weakest link is probably Tyler Blackett, if he plays.

-How do you feel about the play-offs? Nervous, expectant, fearful?

Nervous, excited. I feel like this squad is well equipped for a mini-tournament like the playoffs but I won't be surprised if it all falls apart in the first leg.

-Which team and individual player do you fear the most in the play-offs?

Wednesday, Ryan Fredericks

-How much of a challenge do Huddersfield Town represent to the other teams in the play-offs?

I'm not very worried about Huddersfield just based on recent form, especially wen you compare it to the form of SW and Fulham. I predict Wednesday will reach the final. But Huddersfield have just as good a chance as anyone to reach the Prem, and I'll congratulate your team if they manage it.

-Finally, are you going to win it and if not who will?

I'm going to say no, keeping my expectations low so the potential crushing defeat doesn't hurt as much. Wendys are the favorites to win it in my mind

-How would you sum your season so far?
(26 * 3)+7 = 85

-What's your style of play?
Go find your own oxf*rd ball. This one is ours.

-Who are the danger men in your squad, and who is the weak link?
Yann scored 18 which is twice as much as Garath. Garath scored three times as much as Joseph.
How many did Joseph score?

Nahki oxf*rd Wells

-How would you sum your season so far?
Surprisingly brilliant overachieving work in progress

-What's your style of play?
Bore the opposition into sleep with tedious sideways passing and possession, then turn on the style and take our chances.

-Who are the danger men in your squad, and who is the weak link?
McCleary, Swift, Kelly, Williams, Kermorgant are all very dangerous on their day... though have plenty of quiet days.
Gunter, Obita and Blackett are weak defensively. Williams tends to run into blind allies a lot on his worst days

-How do you feel about the play-offs? Nervous, expectant, fearful?
Sanguine. We've blown them about 5 times and getting in them was way more than we expected. Don't go up, we should be able to look forward to a good season next year. Go up and we get to have a party at Wembley and see if we can make the PL stick.

-Which team and individual player do you fear the most in the play-offs?
Don't really fear anyone because losing isn't a big deal. But Fulham and Forestieri probably

-How much of a challenge do Huddersfield Town represent to the other teams in the play-offs?
A month ago I was hoping you'd pip Brighton to second and thought you were the clear best. Now, you look the weakest,
in middling form, with a keeper suspended and a manager who seems up to silly antics.

-Finally, are you going to win it and if not who will?
Probably not, Fulham, because they're the team I'd least like to win it.

-How would you sum your season so far? Much improved. Unpredictable, we always have a mare just around the corner.

-What's your style of play? Chess-like....bore the opposition to death, then hit on the break.

-Who are the danger men in your squad, and who is the weak link? Kermie has been outstanding all season up front, midfield and in defence. No particular "weak link" although the passing around in our own last quarter sometimes compromises all who play there (Gunter is the blame choice for many).

-How do you feel about the play-offs? Nervous, expectant, fearful? We don't do play-offs

-Which team and individual player do you fear the most in the play-offs? "Fear" all of our opponents equally. Aluko and Wells normally have good days playing against us

-How much of a challenge do Huddersfield Town represent to the other teams in the play-offs? A well disciplined Terriers side on their day are as capable as anyone. Like us, you are prone to letting a few-in on occasions tho'

-Finally, are you going to win it and if not who will? WE don't do play-offs. So hopefully you will.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your replies. The blog is now up and you can find it here: www.terrierblog.co.uk

I've pinched the best answers to each individual question, so again thanks for answering guys.

Good result for you last night, I was cheering you all the way, something about the media love in for Fulham makes me want to see them fail!

Let's hope we don't make fools of ourselves this afternoon.

Cheers!
