When will we break our transfer record?

When will we spend more than £2.5m on a player?

When will we break our transfer record?

by CountryRoyal » 11 Aug 2016 14:14

With the crazy amount of money flying about in football these days and transfer records being broken left, right and centre when will it be our turn to "smash" ours?

I'm going for next year (assuming we don't get relegated). Premier league football or not I think our owner's as frugal as they seem are going to want to get on with things and think we will see a player come in for £3m or so. Obviously after selling Swift and Meite for a combined £15m.

Liam Moore next summer could be a possibility.

I remember the days of supporting a club whose record transfer spend was £20k for Steve Death in 1970, then £40k, then a whopping £50k (reached within weeks of each other in the very late 70s i believe) and this was still 1986....

So big transfer and or record fees for players coming into Reading are rarer than a Graeme Murty goal.

Or not. The fee was actually undisclosed and could have been anywhere between £2m and £3.5m. Does anyone have a copy of the receipt?

Liverpool only paid €4.8M (£3.6M) for Ilori in the first place as no add on clauses were met, anyone who thinks we then paid £3.5M for him is mentz

Spoke to someone who is in the game and in a reasonable position to know about transfers and his view was we certainly broke our transfer record for Illori. He was less than convinced it was value for money.....

Depending on how Wembley goes tonight's performance could end up being worth a good chunk of £170m+. How's that for value for money?

Illori looked like in time he might be ok, given decent coaching !
I'd say if we go up then whatever we paid for him looks good, although how you assess the value of the deals for Ali and Yann I have no idea !

He has looked pretty fcking class when playing for us. Needs to learn when to get rid and when not to but other than that he has been solid.

yeah. he killed a man with his bare hands back in 2001 for criticising Leo Roget, was released from prison early last year and yep you guessed it, straight back on the team board beefing all over the place.

A year so far in the future that no biological life can exist on earth and all AI life has left besides a Bionic Ian Royal living in an ice cave who signs himself for a one man Reading FC with one of the last remaining diamonds worth 2 quintillion xgjsiois and also renames the year after himself because nothing else is around and why not.
