You mean where Kalas had Kermogant's hand clamped under his arm, so Kermie couldn't do anything about it? Unlike the actual handball from Kalas where he moved his arm towards the ball?

What a fantastic night that was! I got back to London around 11pm, cracked open a few beers and watched it all again on Sky Sports. I didn't go to bed until about 2:30am. I was just savouring the moment.

Having watched the full game all over again and having watched the replay of the penalty incident several times, I really believe it was a stonewall penalty. I am not being partisan or bias. It was a penalty. The ball was to the side of Kalas, the only way he could get the ball under his control and get it away from Kermorgant was to control the ball with his hand and push it in front of him where he needed it to be so he could get it out of harms way. The referee was exactly right to give the penalty. Obviously it's annoying to concede a penalty like that, but it was a penalty. Fulham had 19 attempts on goal last night. But we had 7 shots on target compared to their 6 and we had the best chances.

Fulham play nice football, but Reading employ nice tactics. We won the game tactically last night. We were just streetwise. Fulham were not. We adapted to the occasion and treated the game like a 2 legged European tie. (Stams experience at the highest levels really helped us to understand how to deal with this battle) We understood the Fulham threat and we dealt with it.
We know Fulhams game inside out. Since the 5-0 drubbing at the cottage. Stam took on board all the lessons and has since restricted Fulham to just one solitary goal in 3 and a half games of football. So its all very well that Fulham can win at Newcastle and beat Huddersfield etc. But when they come up against a streetwise team with a strong tactical plan they couldn't manage. Fulham were swimming with the sharks last night and they soon found out what that means. They'll be better for the experience and it will stand them in good stead for next season. Hopefully they have learned not to be so cocky in future. Fulham is quite a posh area, but they're not Royal. Come on URZ!

Just another point. The media narrative was that we won the game thanks to Al Habsi making a number of world class saves. They are trying to say that Fulham were all over us and if it wasn't for Al Habsi, Fulham would have gone through to the final themselves. Fulham deserved to win and we didn't....

Al Habsi had a great game, but so did Bettinelli. He made a number of wonderful stops to keep us out as well. There was Bettinelli's incredible save to deny Kermorgant in the first half. He made another outstanding save to stop Grabban's free header on goal. There was his point blank stop from Swift. There was another world class parry against Grabban's thunderous strike. If it wasn't for Bettinelli we would have had the game out of sight.

We actually had more shots on target than Fulham in the end. This was not one way traffic by any stretch. It was just a fantastic night of football. We thoroughly deserved our win. Fulham do play some nice football and they have good movement. But Stam's brilliant tactics denied Fulham many really good goal scoring opportunities and we had enough opportunities ourselves to win the game. The end result was that we outscored Fulham. We won and we fully deserved it, we merited it, we were more streetwise, we are the better team! End of.

no they are not, they are writing for the neutral and are pointing out that Al-Habsi's performance was the stand out and therefore made a big difference, which is hard to argue against.

If they went into fine detail about the ebb & flow of the game and the performances of each player then they would lose your neutrals & casual viewers interest, that is the job for local media. They point out something quite obvious, then waffle around it so as to make the football viewer feel that the report ties in with what they thought they saw

Very dogged, gutsy performance with Fulham pushing so many men forward for the last half hour it was basically attack v defence.

Can't remember a game where i've been that tense for so long but the relative lack of clear chances for Fulham tells you all you need to know about the resilience.

What an incredible season.

And +1 for never ever feeling that tense watching Reading. I didn't think we had it in us to play like that.

If we do not go up, he will leave.

If we do go up and he is not fully backed financially he will leave.

I have forgotten which Nobber mentioned it but the commentators mentioned 3 or 4 times Fulhams ability to come back but never once mentioned our ability to hold onto a lead. Was quite annoying..
