Never heard of him. What a beaut of a jersey that Ghana one is. Is that the World Cup one from a few years back?

He's a pacey winger who was at one time on loan at Celtic from Rubin Kazan, and was poor I believe.

The Chronicle says

READING FC are chasing Panathinaikos midfielder, Mubarak Wakaso

Royals boss Jaap Stam is reported to be keen on the 26-year-old who spent the second part of last season on loan with Spanish side Granada.

Stam could be looking to strengthen in midfield with doubts hanging over the future of out-of-contract, Danny Williams.

Wakaso, who often plays as a winger, is said to be in favour of a move from Greek club Panathinaikos.

It is said Italian outfit Atalanta have also expressed their interest in signing the 49-time capped Ghana international.

But reports elsewhere suggest Stam is leading the chase for Wakaso, who lists Villarreal and Espanyol among his former clubs.

He also played five game for Celtic while on loan from Russian side Rubin Kazan during the 2014/15 campaign.

He looks a good player. How likely is this to happen?

He's a left sided winger though isn't he?

Would offer more defensively than Beerens.

Often think with those videoes you get when a possible signing is mentioned that it would be a good counter balance to see a 'worst of' video rather than always being reliant on a 'best of.'

Of course people are going to say he looks good on a 'best of.'

I agree all targets look good on their youtube best bits. Here he is on his debute with Panathinaikos and looks decent.

It looks like he can play centrally too and he seems quite tenacious. To have wide man qualities in the centre of the park with tenacious tackling thrown in too and powerful long range shots would be very useful.

Matt le Tissier would offer more defensively than Beerens, at age 48

Beerens has oodles of skill but is slow and lightweight. He makes a yard with his tricks but gets caught or muscled off far too easily. An upgrade, or even just a more agricultural alternative would be welcome to my mind.

Nice highlights reel where the clips mostly cut out before we see the cross spooned into the car park and some nice "forward's" tackles thrown in for the giggles. Reminds me of Michael Gilkes and there can be no higher praise than that.

Stam must agree with you on this, as Beerens was completely absent during the playoffs.

The way the games panned out, he was always unlikely to get much game time in them

he has his uses though - especially in games where you know you'll dominate possession and you want someone who may be able to produce something half a yard to get a decent cross in etc

I quite like him, but agree an upgrade would certainly be good
