Seems to be a decent talent, still only 20, decent loan spell will do him wonders. Hopefully he will be more successful at Telstar than Jacob Walcott.

Telstar are about to embark on their 39th successive season in the Eerste Division (that's Division 2 in the Netherlands). Last season Telstar finished just below mid table (12th). Anyone have an idea for what sort of level that is compared to the FL?

Obviously hope he gets regular game time there and is a big success.

Jesus and we thought poor Ipswich had it bad being the perennial second tier side.

Funnily enough they're "only" the second longest serving club in that division, albeit by just one season to FC Eindhoven.

Also Andrija signed a new 2 year deal with Reading before going on loan.

AthleticoSpizz Hard to gauge the standards, but with a ground capacity of just over 3 1/2k, they sound far from sleeping giants.

As a side dish, once managed by Jack Mansell.

And we played them there in a preseason friendly in 1970.

We won 4-2 but can't read too much into that as we were being compared to Brazil at the time.

Unforgettable glory days of pre-season 1970-71, IIRC. Man U (Watney Cup), Glentoran (a), Telstar (a) .... we're on our way .... to Div Four for the first time.

If AAH, Gunter and Cooper all join Williams in leaving, plus the outbound loans already announced, this is tarting to look like a lot of player churn. More revolution than evolution perhaps?

Also, wonder how much is down to budget cuts too given the loss of £8m or so in parachute payments?

Reading are looking to bring in Ross Turnbull as one of two new keepers this summer.

To an extent cutting costs may be part of the reason, but realistically AAH was the only surprise departure.

I expect if Gunter takes a trip up to Boro for talks he'll soon decide he's better off in Reading. Williams was always off the minute we lost the P/O.

I do hope now that large amounts of fat have been trimmed, that BT and Jaap will start bringing in a few lads of higher quality (not Ross Turnbull) and we can start to feel a bit more positive

I know genome made the point that at this stage we'd also only signed one person, however it just feels with all the youth departures and Williams/Gunter/Al-Habsi were being decimated somewhat. Being linked to the likes of a relegated second division midfielder and Ross oxf*rd Turnbull is hardly inspiring.

I'm sure it's probably just the lack of football but thoroughly underwhelmed at the moment. :(

Agreed, this is really starting to annoy me. Youngsters leaving left, right and centre and now inroads are starting to be made into the first team squad.

Meanwhile Reading have got an unknown young Dutch utility player who, obviously, none of us know anything about and 2 or 3 utterly uninspiring links to other players

And Chris Gunter, Paolo Hurtado and Dominic Samuel will be the next to leave.

Long way to go in this window of course but one would presume that Jaap would want new faces in sooner so he can get them coached properly into the system.

This coming season could turn out to be the season we were expecting last season at this rate.
