Getting a tad that way. I've seen nothing from our transfer business, both completed and rumoured, to date that in my opinion corroborate Stam's proposal of bringing in quality players which significantly improve the squad.

As you said because of the playoffs we have less time to do things than normally. It's still early days but only time will tell.

I will be sad to see Ali go he has been a revelation over the last 2 seasons. Stam must know what he is doing. I think we won't see a lot of signings this year, the core squad is already there. 1 striker (5 million pound area), a striker on loan again potentially grabban on season long with view to buy and a new keeper stockdale or federici would be nice. I think other than that it would be like for like with whoever else leaves.

AAH is a great keeper and by every account a great man. The save at home to Fulham when he tipped it over is a lasting memory of him for me and his decision (I'm sure its not Stam's) for him to go is probably the right one for him.

However, I'm happy to see Jaakkola given his chance now.

Williams was always going if we didn't go up - and though he was excellent in the last few months of the season, in reality if he had gone at Christmas, no one would have cared a bit really. Again good luck to him, but we can find a player of a similar level

Thanks for the clarification on that. That really is an utterly pathetic figure for your club's first team goalkeeper at Championship level who has won two successive PoTS awards in a team that last year missed out on the Premier League in a penalty shoot out.

It's certainly nothing like Siggy or Long leaving. So I'm not too worried about the impact on the team, I'm disappointed as he's a fan favourite and it looks like we've sold him for peanuts.

I'm torn on what to do
- Jaakkola said he didn't come in to sit on the bench, if he doesn't get starts this season I wouldn't be surprised to see him angling for a move.
- Bond, assume he's gone.
- If we bring another player in what will that do for harmony (as above)
- If it's a younger keeper on loan what message does that send to the likes of Legg, Ward and Southwood with their progression and longer term opportunities?
- If it's a player like Rudd, you'd imagine that's going to be a 2/3 year deal, again, what does that suggest about progression?

I wonder if one of the younger keepers has caught Beasant/Jaap's eye? Legg got rave reviews and was pulled back for the bench last season, Ward seems to be quite decent (and outlasted Moore/Bond) and Southwood - much younger but a lot of hype and potential with this lad, comfortable on the ball too.

For me, I'd probably start with Jaakkola (who we signed for a reason..) and Legg on the bench, keep assessing the others (maybe loan Southwood out and have Ward 3rd choice/u23 keeper), give Legg (21)/Ward (20)/Southwood (19) goes in the cups and if one really stands out then progress them (or give them a go if we have any dead rubber games). Getting a chance hasn't hurt Butland, Pickford, Onana, McCarthy etc.... although is that resigning ourselves to another development season (meaning we might lose Obita, Moore, Kelly, Swift etc.. after next season ends)
