Club president, you'd have to be a bit of an arsehole to begrudge this one

4-0 to United should be top unless Huddersfield beat Newcastle 6-0

The Arnautovic (sp?) elbow in the saints-west ham game

Just how do you get so stroppy being sent off for such a blatant and vicious elbow?!

Quite. Although this weekend highlighted some very poor refereeing decisions, this was a rare one they actually got right.

Impressed with the job Koeman is doing at Everton.

Calvert-Lewin and Holgate look great prospects.

I think they have the perfect team now to challenge top 4 or even win the league. A wily old centre forward looking to win the league in a fairytale scenario, a great centre mid who could be the missing piece of their puzzle, gr8 young players, solid centre backs and a keeper who is future number 1 for england. Plus a gr8 manager

Yeah, agreed Everton are building something pretty good at the moment.

I think it was Dermot Gallagher once said in an interview that referees will generally 'look for a reason not to send someone off'. Clearly not an approach Bobby Madley took last night - neither second offence, from Walker or Schneiderlein, warranted a yellow, let alone a second card. The latter in particular an awful decision - he caught Aguero with the toe of his trailing foot.

I must say in the first 2 weeks of the season the standard of referring has been abysmal.

Why are commentators so frightened to call out players who cheat? Aguero last night when the everton lad was sent off was a disgrace, his foot light brushed against Aguero and so he went down rolling around, then all we got was 'Everton might feel themselves a little unlucky there'. why not just say we can all blatantly see?!

I agree that neither Walker or Schneiderlein should have been sent off for a 2nd yellow. Ultimately they were victims of players overreacting. However, Walker's little look before the incident gave the referee a decision to make and Schneiderlein should have stayed on his feet which also gave the ref a decision to make. We know how players overreact in this day and age so I would say both Walker and Schneiderlein need to be a little more clever.

Cracking defending for City's goal.

that's just w@nky pundit cliché talk

he can stay on his feet or he can go to ground, making a fair tackle is the only important thing. If the issue is players overreacting then sort that out, don't make players change how football is played just to accommodate cheats

The challenge was virtually in the middle of the pitch so there was no need to dive in at all.

Yeah, that was a terrible clearance tbf. Still looks a decent prospect though.

'Diving in' is absolutely fine if diving in means that the player wins the ball fairly/stops the oppo fairly. No reason not to dive in at all if you make the challenge fair and the authorities do enough to to deal with cheats properly.

Probably an unpopular view but Walker's 2nd yellow was a yellow - turned to see where the player was and changed his path to uneccearily clash with him. As he knew the player was there but did not do anything to avoid contact that could have caused injury, his actions were reckless. That's a yellow card, so he had to go.
