Dangerous yes, but not so much reckless, but relatively cynical IMO. He was trying make contact with the player and it looked like he'd just lost his head after an incident in or around the Everton box which then led to Walkers first booking just a minute of so before.

That context probably goes someway to explaining why the ref may have reacted with a card when it looks a little tame in isolation.

Even in isolation it should be a yellow card. Agreed he seemed to have lost his head but to look to make unnecessary relatively uncontrolled contact (he knew where he was but wasn't looking at him when he made contact) is only going to end in a yellow - to do it 5 mins after being booked is frankly stupid.

Winston Biscuit
Jim Royal Schneiderlein should have stayed on his feet which also gave the ref a decision to make

that's just w@nky pundit cliché talk

he can stay on his feet or he can go to ground, making a fair tackle is the only important thing. If the issue is players overreacting then sort that out, don't make players change how football is played just to accommodate cheats

The challenge was virtually in the middle of the pitch so there was no need to dive in at all.

'greed! Use your brain and stay on your feet

certainly was a massive plus for Chelsea last season against others that were battling on all fronts while they could sit back with their feet up midweek. Will be interesting to see how they do this season when they are juggling Euro football with the PL like the other clubs trying to win the league.

I suspect we won't have another 'Leicester' again. Chelsea was an exception last season and it was very rare for them not have European Football and still had the majority of the squad from the last time they won the league in 14/15.

So the teams battling out for the title are

Chelsea
Man Utd
Spurs
Man City
Arsenal
Liverpool

And they've all got European football this season. Even if you include Everton in the mix they still have rigmarole of the Europa League.

Big pressure on United to win the league this season, big pressure for Pep to win his first trophy at City, big pressure for Spurs to win something and big pressure on Klopp to deliver a trophy at Liverpool.

reckon it would be deemed acceptable for City or Utd to finish 2nd with a domestic trophy or finish top 4 while winning the European Cup

You are deLOLusional. How can you not include Everton After they battered Man City when your team lost to Burnley? I think Everton will win the league in a fairytale scenario for one of England's greatest ever player.

I think that's a commonly used phrased aimed at someone who doesn't understand that 1-1 isn't a battering. How can it be? It's a 1-1 draw.

Really does show how much football has changed, and how much fans have changed, when Schneiderlin is being criticised for making an excellent tackle in the midfield. Noted for that point later in the season where people complain the game has gone soft.

Fans have changed in so much they understand how the game is now. You lunge in and you give the referee a decision to make. Only when they start using TMO they can stamp out play acting.

What are you talking about? Everton battered them with 35% possession and 7 shots to City's 19.
