Pepe the Horseman I'm from Maidenhead, so will immediately switch allegiances if they (we) make it to the Football League.

I always thought Maidenhead was the kind of place you moved to, rather than were from, if you see what I mean.

I'm probably out of date there though.

I would have thought that Winchester is a bit more upmarket than Maidenhead even if Nigel Adkins lives there.

Windsor is full of tourists and tacky gift shops

Maidenhead is full of nothing very much

Slough is the neighbour no-one wants next door and gets all the bits that neither Windsor nor Maidenhed want

Bracknell is full of plastic commuterites getting all excited over a new shopping centre

Wokingham is full of posh plastic commuterites about to get excited over a new shop

Reading is a poorly designed urban barnacle constantly being stitched up by various Oxfordshire councils

But it's home.

So far, so good for Maidenhead. It looks like teams can make a fist of it in the Conference Premier, even being semi-pro - as proven by Bromley, Maidstone and Barrow in recent time.

If they can keep it up at this rate, how long would it be before they go pro and think about stadium development/rebuild?

There's some sort of covenant on the ground that means they can't sell and build a new ground somewhere else, so that have to rebuild at York Road. It's a good location imho - they are just restricted by the space they have.

Maidenhead has a lap dance club. Reading doesn't it's no wonder we never get city status.

I did respond with further information but a busy body has deleted my posts. Obviously don't like promoting local business on this forum.

Didn't the town centre have a "gentleman's club" on Friar Street a few years back?

Tempted by this. GF is away with a friend (probably a secret lover) and I'm home alone.

I guess you can pay for a ticket on the gate?
