Sutekh Is there anyone out there who actually does not dislike any of Reading's squad?

Me

Just don't like the combinations of players that are put out not to mention the tactics

The quality of the squad makes it all the more frustrating that we can't be more successful right now

On individual player ability, technical ability and strength in depth, this team is one of the best we have had (better then last season imho, better then 2011 when we went up and nothing ever compares to the gods of 05/06). It's just something happens when certain combinations of players are used then something just doesnt work. We are also missing that clinical finisher. Wolves, Boro, Leeds, Sheff Weds, Sheff United, Preston of the top of my head can name both strikers will probably get 10+/15+ goals each this season. I just don't see that happening with us.

genome Baffled by statements like that.

Ilori has had a handful of good performances for us, including an absolute blinder in a play-off semi final. But, now he should be "nowhere near a professional football club"?

Give me strength

Strap's judgement of players includes labelling Jimmy Kebe as not a footballer, he's just an angry old reactionary with a fabulous database these days.

There's not a single senior professional in our squad who shouldn't be at this level or the one below.

Some of them are being asked to perform in roles that don't suit them. Some are in woeful form. Some are failing to recover from injuries. Some are inexperienced.

Even Blackett, who has been terrible recently is plenty capable of performing if he can get his head straight.

Just got to get the combination and system right.

IF Reading win today, and again on Tuesday, they will be level on points with Sheffield Wednesday and have played the same number of games.

So let's all dream of mid table obscurity being within reach.

A second consecutive home loss is on the cards for me sadly, I just think our summer recruitment alone will cost us for the next month or so, we have no genuine, consistent goalscorers

I expect

Mannone
Gunter, McShane, Moore, Bacuna
van den Berg
Edwards, Kelly
Barrow, Kermorgant, Aluko

With Yann in the centre of a front 3

Would have maybe swapped in Ilori for McShane and Richards for possibly Edwards but not going to moan too much. Looks ok otherwise, now just need to play well (obvs)

Oh yes 100% better than last week, but I worry about Bacuna being fullback again, think we’re a better team when he’s in the middle. Until he proves me wrong McShane doesn’t seem up for this league anymore and the continued refusal to play Richards when he did so well against Derby, is very annoying. Hopefully I’m wrong

You missed a bit Snowflake so added it for you, but generally you've got me in one! Cannot argue with anything you say.

Only had four cups of tea today, so hopefully I'll be able to contain my grumpiness for 90 minutes - but I doubt it!!

Still do not get playing Bacuna at left back when Richards is fit, raring to go and played really well at Derby

Honestly not sure where this criticism of Bacuna at full back has come from?

He played there against Leeds and Forest and excelled, the latter of which was by all accounts his best performance in a Reading shirt!

I don’t think it’s criticism of Bacuna so much as just thinking Richards should be in

Who would people drop for Richards? Edwards I’m assuming?

Reading not actually too bad at the moment

Sheff Wed seem happy to sit behind the ball and wait for the breakaways

About 4K Wednesday fans but dead quiet

Reading attendance utterly pathetic by the look of things, North and West barely half full
