Tilehurstsouthbank We just need another six or seven wins to definitely be safe this season. To that extent, we need someone short term to 'Fire fight'. If we were in less danger of going down, I'd like to see Gilkesy given a go until the summer. We'd definitely utilise wingers under him!

Gilksey was ineffective and crap at Basingstoke and I see nothing in that he would be any different at Reading.

Well that's that then!

Yep, afraid so.

RichTea94 I was all for Pearson when we sacked McDermot in 2016 before Stam was appointed. Pearson went to Derby and I thought they would be dangerous.

But his spell at Derby was an absolute shambles, so I'd be very wary of getting him in now.

Club chairman getting involved with the team, Pearson hot headed reacts = game over hence only 4 month stay. Call it a blip.

Their form was rubbish too though- I think they didn't score for 7 or 8 games at one stage.

Not to mention buying post-Reading Vydra while loaning out Chris Martin- although Derby will be Derby when it comes to transfers.

Putting a different spin on things, if Stam *was to somehow miraculously sort out these issues and get us back to the heights of last season with a play-off / top two finish as we all for some reason expect of him, do you think with how the fans are acting towards him as of right now that he'd feel obliged to stay if a bigger club were to come in for him?

No matter what happens I see no positives

I wish we'd signed the post-Reading Vydra!

I know he's just signed a temporary deal at Rangers and its a huge gamble but id like to see Graeme Murty back at the club. It would be a disaster if such an RFC legend were to fail (and lets face most eventually do) but I think he's shown a very promising managerial career ahead of him at what is a very large club, shit level of football but a pressured environment nonetheless.

Surprised not more would have him tbf.

Quinn & Gooding. They were not given the full chance they should have had last time.

trueroyal1871 Nigel Pearson wouldn't cost much, currently managing in the Belgian second division (Oud-Heverlee Leuven owned by his former Leicester employers). He knows the league well and more importantly how to get out of it.

It's not going to happen, by sacking arrogant Stam, Gourlay effectively questions his own judgement ! The owners may of course realise that the ship his heading towards disaster and step in to rescue what's left of their cargo before it plummets down the leagues ..

I believe he was interviewed before and is very expensive plus he wants funds to bring in decent players

Hound Paul Cook would be a good option. Don't know too much about his style of play etc, but obv done a great job at Wigan.

Again, whether he would come is questionable.

Style of play or league position ?
