No League 1 thread so will put here.

Darren Ferguson had a post match radio interview where talking about the referees in the game vs Plymouth where one of the Doncaster CBs was fouled for a goal, he first said "they are part time, fitness levels are a disgrace... they are rubbish etc etc". Pretty standard stuff. When asked what would he do about it he said "what can I do?"
Reporter: "what would you like to do?"
DF: "Shoot them. That would be a good idea".

Long ban for him then.

I've n ot seen the incidents myself but I have heard the full interview, he was more pissed off with the officials laughing about making a bad decision than the bad decisions themselves and he wasn't ranting. To be fair to Ferguson, the rest of the interview was a very calm, level headed and honest assessment of his team and individual players' performances. He was put on the spot and it was something said in the heat of the moment. I really don't think the League or referees's association should make too big a deal out of it.

Nantes v PSG - 90th minute, Nantes defender 'accidentally' knocks the ref over. Ref tries to kick him, then sends him off.

Valencia Vs Real Madrid in 10 days time, which is 3rd Vs 4th if you haven't been paying attention to RM's shambolic season.

With Villarreal & Sevilla very close behind them and both having winnable games in the next 2 weekends RM could find themselves down in 5th, maybe at a push even 6th come a week saturday if they lose away to Valencia.

Messi's new contract leaked online:

€71M annual basic wage for the next 3 1/2 years. He received a lump sum €63.5M contract signing bonus and will receive another bonus of €70M if he remains at Barca until the end of the contract. If you spread all that out over the lifetime of his contract it is just over €2M per week.

On top of that he has a €12M Champions League win bonus, €8M La Liga win bonus and a €2M bonus for each season that he plays in 60% of the matches.

Messi's wages alone are now 40% of Barca's total wage bill.

It's reported that this ^ is what Man City offered to him so he just said Barca need to match it all.

In Germany, shame Bayern are running away again as below them just 1 point separates Leverkusen in 2nd from Frankfurt in 7th.

There's only 6pts between 2nd and 11th.

At the bottom Cologne winning at Hamburg means their great escape attempt is on. Hamburg themselves starting to finally look doomed, though will probsbly survive via the play-offs again.

What is going on with signing fees at the moment? Reported Sanchez got £20m as part of the deal that took him to United. £20m just for signing the contract that earns him tens more millions.

Real Madrid's season going from bad to worse. Having won 1-0 at Leganes in the first leg, they manage to lose 2-1 at home to go out on away goals.

Add in a 19pt gap to Barca in the league and if they lose to PSG next month, Zidane is surely a gonner.

2. Bundesliga kicked off again this midweek following the winter break.

Unfortunately the Darmstadt-Kaiserslautern game was abandoned at half time as the Kaiserslautern manager was taken to hospital following a suspected heart attack.

Away to 3rd placed Valencia this coming weekend, fail to win that and Villarreal, playing at home to Real Sociedad, can overtake them pushing RM out of a CL spot.

Valencia had both centre backs sent off last match so they will be suspended and their top scorer is out too, so RM are playing them at a good time I guess.

It's a great one to watch as it doesn't look like one of them big hoofed ones which happens to bounce over the keeper, it goes in like a proper fierce shot (even though he almost certainly was just giving it a generic hoof)
