How much whelm

Overwhelmed - I can't believe this day has come, as a long time Clementine I am overjoyed.

Whelmed - Cautiously optimistic, as good of a manager that we could hope for at the moment.

Underwhelmed - For a moment I thought we were in danger of passing forwards, glad that's not the case.

I'm definitely on the upper side of whelmed, I think this could turn out to be a really good appointment.

If 1 is underwhelmed, 5 is whelmed, and 10 is overwhelmed, I'm a 6.

About a 7 on the genome scale.

It could be a cracking appointment. I think people downplay a little bit how well he did at Derby - 5 points off the top in Feb is a very good season in a very competitive league.

Little concerned he could be more of the same and not give the kick up the ar$e the team needs, but we'll soon find out

Positives
Has worked at some of the best clubs in the world (and Chelsea lolololololol x)
Brother of a club legend
Should have something to prove
Not a random foreign

Negatives
Has been sacked from both of his previous managerial roles without completing a full season
Derby fans have complained about his boring style of football

5/10 for me.

I am very whelmed. Jaap has gone and a new manager is here! Peter Sutcliffe could be taking over for all I care. As long as Stam isn't here I am happy!

Not a bad shout - very effective on the attack, although ultimately his poor defence was his downfall.

You'd know someone was going to get a hammering sooner or later

BT and FWIW I read whelmguage as whingepage, which will prolly end up being appropriate

Hugely whelmed!

Still possession based football, though hopefully more attacking. Yes he's been sacked before - but so has every other manager (barring Wenger and Judas types like Pardew)!

Confident we'll do well in whichever league we're in next season!

Not massively whelmed but looking at the alternatives, I feel we've dodged a hail of bullets.

I'm also knocking in at about 6.5 / 7 on the genomic scale.

My Granny can rest in her grave tonight, you don't get to be assistant coach at Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid by being a mug. I still blame this season on not signing a striker and not entirely on Stam but that's over, I can go again, as I stopped after Stevenage away, let's hope it's not too late...

Im currently a 2/10. But might bump it up if he's still here next season and spent the closed season formulating a more interesting squad than we have at the moment.

Tactics were his downfall. Can't believe we've got someone on a long contract again, we just needed someone to get out this mess then re-evaluate. Clement looked clueless when Swansea were floundering, what makes him qualified now ..

If you hire a new manager it means you have faith in him. You can't give a manager you have faith in a 1 year deal.

It might go wrong, who knows but I don't think this guy has enough failure to write him off.

Yes I would have gone for someone else but I think he just might be ok.

Was not my first choice by any means but i think he has come over extremely well today. Hopefulluy his confidence and enthusiasm will transmit to the players and we will get the results we desperately need.
On reflection his record at Derby was very good and after saving Swansea they repaid him by selling their best players.
Good luck Paul, we must all get 100% behind him for the rest of the season.
