Just 2 games left in the German 2nd division and everyone from 8th place downwards could still be relegated

Wow just checked it out.... in the last 5 games that each of those 10 teams from 8th to 18th have played (55 games, but bearing in mind they have obviously played each other) been 13 wins, 15 draws and 27 losses.

There was just 1 point between the top in Turkey before the weekend, now with 3 games left and with Galatasaray beating Besiktas there are 4 points between them.

Galatasaray sit top, with the best goal diffo and 1 point ahead of Basaksehir.

Remarkably close league. Just 10 points between 4th and 17th (second from bottom). Fortuna (1st) have lost 9 times, and Darmstadt (17th) have lost 11.

Paderborn have had a crazy few seasons.

2013/14 - Promoted to Bundesliga
2014/15 - Relegated from Bundesliga
2015/16 - Relegated from 2. Bundesliga
2016/17 - Finished in 3. Liga relegation zone and only saved from relegation to the Regionalliga (non-league with a crazy promotion system) as 1860 Munich were refused a 3. Liga licence
2017/18 - Promoted to 2. Bundesliga

I said it last year on here, soon the PL Will go down the Netflix route, 14.99 a month or something for every game, plus all old highlights. MOTD and FA Cup stay on BBC, and Sky will slowly dry up.

The real problem is this new tv channel subscription model they have had since last year.

Hmm, not sure it is a massive loss. I can't stand watching Spanish football and probably haven't watched more than 5 minutes of a game in at least 2 years.

Keep an eye out on if Perform Group (or any one affliated to them start to buy rights in the UK). They run DAZN here, which is exactly as you describe, Netflix for live sport and have been stripping away rights from Sky slowly but surely. They are keen to start DAZN in the UK.

Sky still have the Bundesliga (DAZN has highlights) but beyond that from next season they have the rights to:

Premier League (all broadcast games plus one 3pm Sat KO)
Football League (as per the PL)
La Liga (every game)
Serie A (every game)
Ligue Un (every game)
All UEFA WC/Euro Qualifers (and South American Qualifiers)
Various other leagues from around the world including Holland, Belgium, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Copa Libetadores, Portugal, Denmark

Every Europa League game from next season
Half of the CL games from next season

Plus a range of other sports - rugby (English, Pro 14, European Cup, Six Nations and Autumn Internationals), all the big US sports. All the big boxing fights (incl all Sky PPV events), WTA Tennis, Hockey and cricket.

Sporting Lisbon Vs Benfica this Saturday evening at 8:30pm

If I have my head on straight then I believe it is essentially a straight shoot out for a champions league spot. They are in 2nd and 3rd place but on the same points with the top 2 getting into the CL. There are 2 games left and Portugal uses head to head with the teams having drawn earlier in the season, therefore whoever wins goes 3 points ahead with a better h2h record and 1 game left to play. winner takes all!

So Hamburg lose 3-0 at Frankfurt despite dominating the game, so remain 2 points adrift of Wolfsburg, who themselves were tonked at Leipzig (4-1).

Goes to the final day. Hamburg have to beat Mönchengladbach at home and hope Wolfsburg lose at home to relegated Cologne.

Nuremburg and Düsseldorf already promoted from 2. Bundesliga with Holstein Kiel the surprise package, guaranteed to meet the 16th place Bundesliga club in the play-off.

At the other end, Kaiserlauten drop to the 3rd tier for the first time. Interestingly* they are the only club in Germany to win the 2.Bundesliga and Bundesliga in successive seasons. Promoted in 96/97 then won the Bundesliga at their first attempt before returning to mid table and eventual relegation.

Other relegation/play-offs spots between Greuther Fürth, Eintracht Braunschweig, Darmstadt and Erzgebirge Aue - 3 off whom have been in the Bundesliga since I moved here 5 years ago - Aue being the odd one out.
