Slightly better than the home-grown players who replace him in the line-up. Just imagine if Llorente had been good enough to keep Kane out of the Spurs team - he would be hated too.

Bale’s injury problems have been overstated. When it comes to the big games he delivers. He seems set to leave a Madrid and they will miss him. Ronaldo is on the wane.

I am not aware Bale is hated. I suspect Ronaldo wants to be in the limelight all the time and sees Bale as a threat but apart from that I don’t see that Bale is hated.

As a neutral I thought

1. Liverpool tried hard but were never going to make it without a lot of luck as their squad depth is just so very poor and until they spend to give themselves that depth they’ll never win anything. Unbelievable run of bad luck with injuries to end the season though.
2. A reasonably decent keeper he may become but not at the level to which Liverpool want to aspire. They need to spend and get themselves the replacement for Reina that they’ve needed for the last few years. Next season will be hell for Karius as if Liverpool stick with him every as other team’s supporters won’t let him forget
3. Ramos is one of those ever so “subtle” players that tries to sail as close to the edge of the “laws” of the game as possible.
4. Come back to Blighty, Gareth, somewhere you’ll be appreciated.
5. Mr “all about me” and his upstaging of RMs victory. Did nothing in the game and couldn’t stand the fact that Bale had the limelight so thought he’d immediately drop the hint he’ll be off in the summer. At least he’s 33 now so we won’t have to endure him much longer. Let’s hope he moves to the MLS where he can quietly be forgotten.

Most of all I feel really sorry for Egypt now that their little bit of WC excitement is likely to have been wrecked.

Cracking game of football where Liverp0ol needed to take advantage of their early supremacy but Salah's injury made things more difficult.
Without the keeper's errors Real might have won anyway and there is no doubt that they have some team and squad and proven by winning 3 years on the trot, something no other club has ever done.
I thought this was one of the most entertaining finals for some time-nothing like the dross of the Chelsea-Man Utd final a few years ago and many others.
A shame that Liverpool didn't win it but they have had a good season and with Keita already signed up they may, with a couple of other additions, provide the biggest threat to City next season although all fans generally being optimistic by nature often feel that 2 more signings will make the difference whatever level of football they are playing at.

Oh, that Gareth Bale goal (the first one of course) was something else at a critical part of the game and it was good to see a great goal in such a big game.
A game that saw one of the great goals and two of the worst-a shame that it was only on BT.
