Ascotexgunner Tunisia really are a disgrace. Backfired on em now. WD England
Cheek and Rashford have been brilliant.

Agreed with all that

Trippier superb too.

tulip Fair result since that penalty was not.

Tunisia offered nothing and got nothing. England made very hard work of it but the goal was coming and it was deserved.

It's funny how a goal right at the end totally changes how people are talking about the game (on bbc) - if it had ended 1:1 it would have been 'a lacklustre display' ... and suddenly it's a 'really professional job ... they kept going ... didn't lose their nerve' - like heck.

A win's a win. Opening games are always edgy so getting the late winner relieves some of the pressure on the Panama game.

oxf*rd phew!!!!! I'll give Southgate credit, no way we'd be winning that with Hodgson or Allardyce in charge. At least we kept pushing and stayed positive.

Refereeing was an utter, utter joke.

Unfortunately that plays into Belgium's hands for their game against Tunisia, rather than being dirty little shits, they'll need to chase a win as they'll probably reckon we'll beat Panama and thus will need something against Belgium.

personal win...

I left my card behind the bar by mistake, wandered down to tescos for some food, ate the doritos in the line and then discovered I had no way of paying for them...what they gonna do?

Feck all is apparently the answer, he wasn't sharing my enthusiasm for the late winner either

(i'll prolly sheepishly drop in and pay for them next time i'm there)

Given their track record in recent Finals I thought England would struggle in this group. They should qualify by Sunday as they will beat Panama and Belgium will beat Tunisia.
Goal difference could be key so they need to rack up the goals against Panama.

He'd absolutely ruin you.

Baffled by VAR (not for the first time), surely the Kane fouls were made for it?

Impressed with Loftus-Cheek x

Deserved win after missing a shed load in the first half. Really positive subs by Southgate a contributing factor. Please, please drop Young for Rose for the Panama game. Nothing wide left today.

Just finished watching it delayed. It was OK. Lots of good performances and I think Germany would die for a Harry Kane. I hope we realise we are allowed to tackle for the next few games because we didn't win a 50:50 all game. VAR proved useless, but we survived. With a fit Dele Alli and Rashford on from the start, I would say we are certain to win the world cup now. It's strange to hear Lampard offering expert knowledge on World Cup games - isn't he statistically our worst world cup player ever?

I hate England football (usually).

However this time it's different. I really buy into Gareth Southgate, he seems absolutely perfect and just what we need. Astute, can really understand the way the public feel, says the right things. Also I do feel this whole squad seems to be really working well.

Give Southgate time, give him years to really get this job done. i do think we can start to really compete and fulfill our potential.

Anyone remember the days of Sven Goran Erikson and postman pat (copello), those were the dark days for me. Seeing Southgate thrash around like a true England fan was superb.

Very good start with terrible finishing. Lacklustre but persistent display with occasional quality.

Awful officiating mostly against England. Hampered by Alli getting a knock and Lingard and Sterling both poncing about the pitch trying too hard and having no end product. Quite slow through midfield and wobbly at the back.

Thought Rose, Loftus-Cheek/Delph and Rashford should start before the game. Still think they should start after the game.
