Interesting contrast....

Re Maradona:

6ft Kerplunk Given that he'd probably been getting stick from the fans below him in the stand I don't have a problem it.

Re Carragher:

6ft Kerplunk ....... it really didn't take much to provoke Carragher. His reaction is way over the top.

Are you equating giving some football fans the finger at a football match with spitting at someone out of a car window?

Because that seems a bit mad, if I've understood you.

Yeah maybe he should just have lobbed a few lagers about.
Social media saying it was accompanied with homophobic slurs, in which case I retract my indifference. No excuse for that.

Maradonas just a bit of a self parody really. Which is a shame as he was the best footballer ever. But he always was a totally loose canon.

Lineker can fcuk off with his outrage. He's hardly Mr Nice.

I don't mind Linekar but he's VERY active on Twitter and I think it's a matter of time before he tweets something stupid/drunk/offensive and is forced to grovel and then leave MOTD.

It's the way of the modern world.

Which is why I'm massively confused as to why people like him have Twitter. To receive abuse, publicity, problems, does any good come of it?!

Good news is now that we get to watch France beat them 4-0 (or more likely Argentina to do a Portugal and jam their way through to the final).

i really like the post match interview with Pogba where he was asked for his thoughts on Peru and did so in fluent Spanish.

Had the convo before on here but I am always somewhat in awe of people who can speak multiple languages and flick between them as if it is no effort. It is something I see as such a hugely valuable asset to have (one which I have struggled to gain). It seems he is fluent in 4 languages. well jel

don't get me wrong, he is still a monumental bellend though

That French team is a complete dog, at least the Argies look a threat going forward. France have been so stodgy and uninspiring thus far.

Yeah, this. I don't think Carragher would have been vilified for flipping a gobby Dad the bird.

Agree with all that. I'm strangely intrigued to be honest whenever any footballer displays a non-sports related skill, I start from the basis that they are all dickheads.
