From Despair To Where? Hope they stuff United. Absolute bullshit decision to parachute them into WSL2. Once again proving that when the FA are involved, money talks.

Manchester United 0 Reading 2.

I know its only the cup but it really shows how difficult it is for the minnows to get a result against the big teams.

To be fair, pulled in a crowd of over 4k.

That does tend to happen when the big clubs come to visit.

Typical women wait for the men to build the foundations (over 100 years) and then move in and demand that we give them their own teams. Start your own teams and make them good enough to be undeniable

Whilst an obvious wind up, the mens game was actually responsible for destroying the Women's game. Back around the time between the wars, the Women's game was very popular and often attracting bigger crowds that the Men's game. The Football League responded by banning women from playing in any of the stadia. As these were the only grounds big enough to house the gates attracted (as high as 53k at Everton) the game essentially was sidelined until the 70s.

If it had been allowed to grow naturally, the Women's game could well be the equal or possibly even more popular than the Men's game.

I didn't actually know that and whilst not really being serious there are plenty of fields were women are waiting to be 'given it' rather than 'taking it' by being undeniably better

110% agree that women should be treated as equal to men

Can't stand plastic clubs with no history and pedigree, particularly when they try to buy their way to success.

Plastic indeed but my gripe is particularly with the FA for letting them into WSL2 without earning it.

1 game played and more points, more wins and nearly as many goals as the men's 1st team have managed in 6 games. Perhaps Clement should name the ladies to play v Preston.

they seem to have a really solid set up. Whoever has been running that side of the club has done a fantastic job. Should be top 4 again, and when that is up against 4 of the 'big 6' from the men's world, its a cracking achievement

And yeah the contrast the men's first team is very stark unfortunately

nope they are div 2 - Reading, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal (along with some others) are Div 1

Did see the 12-0 result. Pretty feeble that.

Or perhaps the owners should ask Kelly and the rest of the women's management and coaching team to take charge of the men's team! Their dead ball routines are certainly far more creative and effective than anything the men have produced and have a high conversion rate.

Success definitely breeds success. Did brilliantly to sign the likes of Fara Williams, Jo Potter, Jade Moore and Natasha Harding last year. This has undoubtedly encouraged other big names like Gemma Davison to join this season.

The team now has numerous full internationals from the Home Countries, some old hands like those names already mentioned plus new, young players like Lauren Bruton who made her full England debut last week.

Furthermore, unlike the case with the men's team, the older signings have shown a new lease of life following their move to Reading and are playing brilliantly.
